A new book, edited by Laverne Bell-Tolliver, includes interview with many of the students who integrated Little Rock's junior high schools. She'll discuss her book from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at ALLPS School of Innovation in Fayetteville. The book The First Twenty-Five: An Oral History of the Desegregation of Little Rock's Public Junior High Schools is published by the University of Arkansas Press.

The Fayetteville City Council voted Tuesday to approve an agreement with the Walton Family Foundation to preserve nearly 230 acres along Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and I-49. The land, known locally as Mountain Ranch, had been owned by Centennial Bank. The Walton Family Foundation will cover about half of the $3.3 million cost of the property, and the rest will be covered by an interest-free loan for five years.
