As part of the One Book, One Community initiative , the Latin/x Youth Theatre Project is taking scenes from its premier play, "Follow Me @ Tío Sam," and expanding it for a new production that will be performed twice this week. The Fayetteville Planning Commission is considering a proposal submitted by ServeNWA for a homeless community called New Beginnings that would provide micro-shelters to those in need of somewhere to sleep. Kevin Fitzpatrick, who is the director of the University of Arkansas' Community Family Institute and is a board member for ServeNWA, says the micro-shelters would serve as a stepping stone between homelessness and a permanent residence like an apartment.

The Fayetteville City Council voted 5 to 2 Tuesday evening to deny the appeal of the Planning Commission's August approval of the expansion of Morgan Manor, which is one of four low-income housing developments run by the Fayetteville Housing Authority. Beer is brewing in Fort Smith for the first time since the 1990s when Weidman's Old Fort Brew Pub was still in production. The Fort Smith Brewing Company opened its doors in Fort Chaffee in September and while the owners say they are starting slow to test the waters, they have big plans for the future.
