Today on the 5: Too often we see television making people who are the worst of society into celebrities. Within the last few years, however, I've seen a few shows pop up that recognize people doing actual work, and that's a refreshing change.
Today on the 5: I did a review of the series Star Trek: Enterprise a few weeks back, and I judged the series a failure midway through Season 2. It's a good lesson in speaking too soon, though, because I've continued watching it and the last 2 seasons are remarkably better.
Today on the 5: The recent iPhone announcements left as many people underwhelmed as excited, even though it's likely to be the best smartphone in the market. I think this reaction, and the way Apple is developing the phone, is more evidence that Apple has changed from the maverick company it once was into the company it set out to unseat.

Today on the 5: There is a group working on a multiplayer mod for the game Just Cause 2. They've been doing periodic open beta tests with large groups of people, and last weekend I managed to get on and experience the mod.
Today on the 5: Amazon recently had their big event to unveil the new Kindle line. After the announcement, there was an indication that the new Kindle Fires would have ads built-in, similar to what was started in the last generation but missing an "opt out" ability. This got a lot of people all riled up, but hasn't this always been Amazon's plan with these devices?
Today on the 5: One of the great uses of the new iPad that people often cite is reading comics. I haven't bought a comic book in a long time, but I decided to jump back in and see what the experience is like on the tablet.
Today on the 5: I just finished playing the new game Sleeping Dogs. It got great critical reviews as a Hong Kong version of Grand Theft Auto, which was enough for me to get it and play through. My review.
