  • Let's talk Toilet Training

Hello and welcome to the latest episode of P for Parenting. Anjali and Anubha are again back with some of the hacks of parenting based on their experience.

This week Anubha and Anjali are talking about the topic which has been a headache for every mother. They talked about toilet training. Toilet training is the process of training someone, particularly a young child or infant, to use the toilet for urination and defecation. Attitudes toward training in recent history have fluctuated substantially and may vary across cultures and according to demographics. Many of the contemporary approaches to toilet training favor a behaviouralism- and cognitive psychology-based approach.

They talked about the weird things they have seen as the child grows. Teaching your child about how to pee is as important as anything else. Sometimes it also happens that diapers may cause rashes leading to skin complications. Also, it is a matter of hygiene on the other side. The sooner the child learns, the healthier the life is.

  • What is positive parenting?

Hello and welcome to the latest episode of our podcast P for Parenting. In this episode, Anubha and Anjali are talking about positive parenting.

Anubha and Anjali talked about how important it is to have a healthy environment at your home. Children learn from their parents and if there are a lot of fights are going out there at home, it gets reflected in the child’s character.

They also said that sometimes it happens that parents are very strict. In that case, children hesitate on sharing things with their parents. And ultimately either they become introverts or fall into bad company.

Parents should also take care of a thing that they should not compare their children with others. Every child is different in its own way. Comparisons always demotivate child and it’s not good for their mental health.

  • Why nutrition is important for New Mothers?

Hello everyone, welcome to the fifth episode of our podcast P for Parenting. In this podcast, Anubha and Anjali are talking about the importance of nutrition for mothers. In this podcast, Dr. Tanuja Khurana joins them. Tanuja is Celebrity Nutritionist and Dietician. Dr. Tanuja has 20 plus years of experience as a dentist. Being a dentist because of her interests in nutrition and diets, she became a full-time nutritionist. She is a certified nutritionist with a degree from Melbourne University.

She told that during pregnancy, mothers usually gain weight. After an interval of 8-9 weeks, it is important to lose weight but the mother has to take care that there should not be any lack of lactation and nourishment to the baby. There is a need for a certain type of diet to increase lactation, which should be taken care of.

She also told that the diets of a mother who is breastfeeding should be different from those who are formula feeding. The eating habits of the mother always effects the child's health especially the one who is breastfeeding. If the eating habits of mothers are not healthy during pregnancy and even while lactating, it can have long-term irreversible side effects on a child's health. Children may develop obesity, higher cholesterol effects, or higher blood sugar level.

  • What is better? Breastfeeding vs. Formula Feeding

Welcome to another episode of our podcast P for Parenting. In this podcast episode, Anubha and Anjali are talking about breastfeeding vs normal feeding. Health experts believe breast milk is the best nutritional choice for infants. But breastfeeding may not be possible for all women. For many, the decision to breastfeed or formula feed is based on their comfort level, lifestyle, and specific medical situations.

For moms who can't breastfeed or who decide not to, infant formula is a healthy alternative. The formula provides babies with the nutrients they need to grow and thrive.

Some mothers worry that if they don't breastfeed, they won't bond with their baby. But the truth is, loving mothers will always create a special bond with their children. And feeding — no matter how — is a great time to strengthen that bond.

The decision to breastfeed or formula feed your baby is a personal one. Weighing the pros and cons of each method can help you decide what is best for you and your baby.

    All About Breastfeeding

Nursing can be a wonderful experience for both mother and baby. It provides ideal nourishment and a special bonding experience that many mothers cherish.

A number of health organizations — including the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), the American Medical Association (AMA), and the World Health Organization (WHO) — recommend breastfeeding as the best choice for babies. Breastfeeding helps defend against infections, prevent allergies, and protect against a number of chronic conditions.

The AAP recommends that babies be breastfed exclusively for the first 6 months. Beyond that, breastfeeding is encouraged until at least 12 months, and longer if both the mother and baby are willing.

Here are some of the many benefits of breastfeeding:

Fighting infections and other conditions. Breastfed babies have fewer infections and hospitalizations than formula-fed infants. During breastfeeding, antibodies and other germ-fighting factors pass from a mother to her baby and strengthen the immune system. This helps lower a baby's chances of getting many infections, including:

    ear infections

    diarrhea

    respiratory infections

    meningitis

Breastfeeding also may protect babies against:

    allergies

    asthma

    diabetes

    obesity

    sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS)

Breastfeeding is particularly beneficial for premature babies.

Nutrition and ease of digestion. Often called the "perfect food" for a human baby's digestive system, breast milk's components — lactose, protein (whey and casein), and fat — are easily digested by a newborn.

As a group, breastfed infants have less difficulty with digestion than do formula-fed infants. Breast milk tends to be more easily digested so that breastfed babies have fewer bouts of diarrhea or constipation.

Breast milk also naturally contains many of the vitamins and minerals that a newborn requires. One exception is vitamin D — the AAP recommends that all breastfed babies begin receiving vitamin D supplements during the first 2 months and continuing until a baby consumes enough vitamin D-fortified formula or milk (after 1 year of age).

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulates formula companies to ensure they provide all the necessary nutrients (including vitamin D) in their formulas. Still, commercial formulas can't completely match breast milk's exact composition. Why? Because milk is a living substance made by each mother for her individual infant, a process that can't be duplicated in a factory.

  • How to deal with child's mental health?

Hello and welcome to the very first episode of our podcast P for Parenting. Anubha and Anjali are here to discuss things that no one does.

The show starts with them talking about how the corona has changed the life of every individual and especially every child. Elders can cope up with these circumstances very easily but it very difficult for children.

They started discussing why mental health for children is important and how parents should take care of their children’s mental health in such a scenario. Anubha said that firstly it was very difficult for a parent to tell their child that what is actually happening and why their life has changed so much.

They said that the first thing a parent should do is to reassure their child. It’s important to listen to their concern. Spend quality time with and give them the attention they need.

Also, parents should take care that their children are in contact with their friends. Physical distancing may lead to distress so try to organize phone calls and video calls between their friends.

Engage them in indoor actives. Try new things, be it gardening cooking, or any such thing. Engage your child in all these activities.

They also talked about managing a child’s anxiety and routine learning at home.
