Today pag-uusapan natin ang isa na namang popular term in today’s popular culture ang friend zone.

According to Wikipedia, friend zone or friendzone is a term used for the situation in which one person in a mutual friendship wishes to enter into a romantic relationship with the other person, while the other does not.

Eto daw yung metamorpical place where people end up when someone they are interested in only wants to be friends.

Ouucchh!!

Meron ba kayong kakilala or kaibigan na nangyari sa kanila yan, or baka ikaw din eh napunta na sa ganitong situation, Yes the friend zone is very real and getting out of it or moving on can be one of the most difficult experiences you might ever have in a relationship.

Mas masakit pa daw ang ma-friend zone kesa ma busted. Kapag na busted ka ng nililigawan mo – most of the time, di mo na sya makikita or di ka na magpapakita pa at makikipag usap pa ulet sa kanya.

Pero kapag na friend-zone ka – you will still be in a relationship with that person –  a relationship na hindi hihigit sa gusto mo sanang mangyari sa inyo, a relationship no more than just friendship.

Ito yung isa sa mga pinakamasasakit na salitang maririnig mo, kahit pa gaano pa ito ikubli ng mabulaklak at malumanay na pananalita. It begins with “it’s not you, it’s me” and then the words, “but I think I just see us more as friends”.

Ouuchhh

It is a form of rejection just like any other, kahit pa gaano ito ka mellow na sabihin sayo. It really hurts ang magmahal ng ganito, sabi nga sa kanta.

In our endless and challenging pursuit of happiness, many among us end up taking the wrong and opposite road to frustration and disappointment that often leads to bitterness.

Kapag bitter ang isang tao, it hinders him or her from having a happy and fulfilled life. Being fulfilled and happy doesn’t require anyone to have all the money in the world, being famous, have all the things that money can buy, or to follow most people’s definition of a successful life.

Being happy simply means that you are able to celebrate life as it is kasama ang mga imperfections, inadequacies, limitations, and even the failures it sometimes brings.

Wala tayong kapangyarihang pigilan ang buhay na magbato sa atin ng kung ano mang nais nitong ibigay sa atin, BUT we always have the power to have a right perspective on it and the power to choose how we are going to respond.

Kapag nagging bitter tayo, it would affect every area of our lives. Bitterness poisons our attitude to where we approach a lot of things things in a negative light.

Kaya naman it is so important to know kung tayo rin ba ay nagiging bitter na rin sa buhay na naglalayo sa atin upang magkaroon tayo ng buhay na masaya at kaiga-igaya.

Kaya naman, let’s talk about it today and sana may mapulot tayo kahit konting aral.

SO, PAANO nga ba, Hindi maging bitter sa buhay.

Madalas nating naririnig itong mga katagang self-love, hindi na ito bago sa ating vocabulary, meron pa ngang  kantang pinasikat noong 1985 si Whitney Houston na sabi sa lyrics, Learning to love yourself, It is the greatest love of all.

Marami na ring mga celebrities, influencers, authors and writers ang nagpropromote ng self-love and marami rami na rin siguro sa atin ang na-encourage na to practice this “Self-love” na sinasabi nila.

But before someone is able to practice it, first we need to understand what it truly means.

Ang self-love daw means having a high regard for your own well-being and happiness.

Self-love means taking care of your own needs and not sacrificing your well-being to please others.

Self-love means not settling for less than you deserve.

Ito yung mga high level definition nitong self-love.

What is the first thing you do in the morning and the last one you do at night? Let me guess, browsing your social media? Aminin.

Lahat nga marahil tayo ay na-hook na sa Soc-Med or social media, According to Statistica.com, Social media usage is one of the most popular online activities. In 2020, over 3.6 billion people were using social media worldwide, a number projected to increase to almost 4.41 billion in 2025.

Marami rin naman talagang magandang effecto ang ibinibigay sa atin ng mga social media platforms, one of the big positive effect associated with it is that it is easier to get connected to our old friends, neighbors, school-mates, relatives and make large number of friends within a short time only.

Pero dahil din sa Social Media, kung Facebook, Instagram, Tiktok or any other platform ang gamit mo, habang nag i-scroll tayo ng mga pinost ng mga kakilala natin or kahit di naman talaga natin kakilala may mga pagkakataon na nacocompare natin yung life natin sa kanila.

Bakit nga ba mas marami ng napuntahang bansa at tourist destination ang mga friends mo, bakit may madami ang nag pa follow sa kanya kesa sayo, bakit sobrang daming nag la-like ng mga post nya, bakit sobrang saya ng mga personalities na pina-follow mo, bakit successful na yung mga ka batch mo eh ikaw nanjan pa rin hanggang ngayon, etc. etc.etc.

Madalas ba sa pag bro-browse natin sa mga mga feeds natin sa social media eh nararamdaman nating parang napag iiwanan na ata tayo?

Actually may word para jan, FOMO, F-O-M-O, isang acronym na ang ful meaning is Fear Of Missing Out.

FOMO became a popular internet term in the last few years, actually noong 2013 pa ay napasali na yang word na yan sa Oxford English Dictionary.

At ang definition nga ng FOMO is the feeling of anxiety or apprehension over the possibility of not being included in an exciting event happening elsewhere that others are experiencing.

A recent study in the subject defined it as

…‘‘the uneasy and sometimes all-consuming feeling that you’re missing out – that your peers are doing, in the know about, or in possession of more or something better than you’’.

Hindi pa tayong lahat familiar sa term na FOMO, bago pa sa ating ang word na ito, but the feeling itself is not, yung feeling na dini-describe natin ay hindi na bago sa atin.

Matagal na natin naririnig yung mga phrases like grass might be greener on the other side. Naranasan na natin ang pakiramdam na ito, missing out on something.

At lalo na nga ngayon sa panahon ng digital age and social media, kung saan halos lahat ay may access na sa smartphones and internet, mas madali natin makita kung kumusta na nga ba ang mga kakilala natin at ano ang pinagkakaabalahan nila – dahil dito – we become more preoccupied sa buhay ng iba, sa buhay ng may buhay.

And we are trap in this cycle. It leads us to check social media again and again and again para we don’t feel left out and always in the know of the latest happenings.

FOMO, or "fear of missing out," is a real phenomenon that is becoming increasingly common and can cause significant stress sa ating mga buhay. It can affect just about anyone.

Marami siguro sa atin ang hindi na makahintay at excited na na magpaalam sa taong 2020, ilang araw na nga lang at sasalubungin na natin ang panibagong taon.

Welcoming the New Year is totally different this year compare to all the previous years we celebrated dahil nga sa mga challenges and trials dala ng taong 2020 and because we are still not out of this Pandemic many of us will not be able to welcome the coming year gaya na ng nakaugaliaan natin with our families and love ones.

Hindi lang din tayo mamaalam sa isang taong nakalipas, we are also ending a decade, isang dekada na ang muling nakalipas, and we are going to start a new decade.

Starting a new year is like making new beginnings sa maraming aspeto ng ating mga buhay – whether you are a student, or professional, may work or my sariling business, single or married, whether you are young or old – the new year calls us to make a fresh start or para bang “reset button” natin ito.

Let’s start the New Year off with more motivation, enthusiasm, positivity, inspiration, faith and hope and with great expectation and anticipation that the year 2021 will be our best year so far.

Sa ating mga pinoy, basta pumasok na ang ber months, or starting September pa lang nasa Christmas mood na ang buong bansa – unti unti ng kumukuti kititap ang paligid kasabay ng mga Christmas songs and carols na pinatutugtog sa radyo at television.

Excited na tayong lahat sa mga kaganapan at kabisihang mangyayari habang palapit ng palapit ang kapaskuhan – mga family reunions, kaliwa’t kanang Christmas parties, get together ng mga magbabarkada or magkaka eskwela, pag sundo sa ating mga kapamilya at kamag-anak na galling abroad.

Excited tayo sa mga bagong damit, bagong pantalon, bagong sapatos na isusuot natin in every party that we are going to go to.

We are excited for our new gadgets na pinag ipunan natin ng buong taon para mabili ito – or kaya naman yung ipinangako sayong ibibigay ng nanay, tatay or kapatid mo bilang Christmas gift sayo.

Panay panay ang pasyal at pag iikot natin sa ibat-ibang malls para makipag unahan sa mga sales at upang makahanap tayo ng pinakamagandang regalo para sa mga mahal natin sa buhay.

Kaming mga ofw dito sa abroad eh ganun din naman, suki sa lahat ng mga grocery at shopping malls na may sale para mapuno kaagad yung mga balikbayan boxes at umabot ito bago dumating ang pasko jan sa pinas.

Malayo pa ang pasko pero kumpleto na yung order natin ng mga masasarap na pagkain para sa mga ihahanda natin sa Noche Buena.

Excited na tayong matangap ang mga Christmas bonus at 13 th month pay para ipapalit ng mga bago at malulutong na pera para ibigay bilang aguinaldo sa mga inaanak at mamasko.

But this year’s Christmas is totally different; it is something that we haven’t experience in our lifetime.

SO, PAANO nga ba, natin icecelebrate ang Christmas this Pandemic.

Almost half of the year 2020 is over, and there is still no concrete sign that we will go back to our normal lives anytime soon.

Every night we worry about what is going to happen tomorrow.

Marahil marami sa atin, wish that all of this is just a dream, a nightmare, and none of this is really happenin. But the moment we wake up, turn on the television or the radio, read news online, and check out the social media post of our friends and families there is no running away from the reality of what this pandemic has brought to our world and to our lives.

And it doesn’t end there, uncertainty is all around us, never more so of course than this time.

Dahil sa pandemic na ito, lalo lang tayong nagging uncertain, unclear, unsure and insecure lalong-lalo na sa ating mga kalusugan, we worry kung ano ang magiging effecto ng Covid-19 virus once na dumapo ito sa atin or sa ating mga mahal sa buhay. As of today, almost half a million people around the world died because of this virus. At dahil jan di natin maiwasan na lalong mag alala.

Economies all over the world are greatly affected with news and articles saying that it will only bounce back 2 to 3 years from now, kaya naman di rin talaga nating maiwasan na mangamba kung paano na nga ba ang ating mga trabaho, ang ating mga pinagkakakitaan, kung saan nakasalalay ang ating finances and those of our family, paano ang pag-aaral nila, paano yung mga bayarin natin, paano na lang yun mga pangarap at mga plano natin sa buhay.

If you feel so overwhelmed by all these uncertainties and worry about what tomorrow might bring, it is important to know that you are not alone, many of us are, sabi nga eh we are in the same boat at this time.

So, before we get so stressed out at bago tayo tuluyan tangayin ng mga problema na ating hinaharap at kakaharapin pa at mag worry na lang lagi, pag-usapan na lang muna natin yan at baka may mapulot tayo kahit konting aral.

We set aside a day to honour our superheros, ang ating mga ama who is always ready to save the day at laging nariyan para sumuporta sa everyday troubles ng kanyang mga anak.

May ibat-ibang date ang ibat-ibang bansa kung kalian nila cine- celebrate ang Father’s Day. Sa atin sa Pilipinas, gaya sa US, we celebrate it every Third Sunday of June, and for this year 2020, ngayong araw na ito mismo, June 21, 2020.

For all the Daddy, Papa, Tatay, Ama, Itay, Amang, Erpat, Tatang, saan mang sulok ng mundo, ibat-iba man ang tawag namin sa inyo iisang kahulugan ang aming pagbati sa lahat ng magigiting na ama ng bawat tahanan, Happy Father’s Day po.

No 2 fathers are alike, magkakaiba tayo ng kinagisnan na mga ama, na mga tatay, at meron silang kanya kanyang style sa pagpapalaki sa atin, ibat-iba ang kanilang personalidad, ibat iba ang kanilang mga strengths and weaknesses.

But if we talk about being a good father, isang mabuting ama, meron tayong makikitang mga certain traits na common sa kanilang lahat. Kaya yan ang pag-uusapan natin ngayon.

For all the troubles that the world is facing right now, isa sa mga dapat nating iwasan ay ang mga taong di na nga nakakatulong eh nagdadala pa ng negativity at kaguluhan sa buhay natin.

These are people that after you interact with leaves you feeling worse, yung may problema ka na nga eh lalo mo pang naramdamang pinagbagsakan ka ng langit at lupa oh kaya naman masaya ka sa simula, maaring may na- achieve ka, na- accomplish or nagawang maganda or simply you just decided to start looking at life on a positive note but after you talk to them, you don’t feel excited about life anymore, yun bang sa kabila ng lahat parang wala kang nagawang maganda sa buhay mo.

We might be thinking right now, ahh may kilala akong ganyang tao. Siguro ngayon may mga na pi picture na kayo sa utak na mga faces nila or yung time na nakasalamuha nyo sila.

But let us be clear, it’s not that the whole person is toxic. Rather their behavior or relationship with you is toxic. So kapag sinabi natin na toxic yun isang tao we are referring to his or her behavior, so yan yung pag uusapan natin during this whole podcast.

Sa tagalog yung toxic daw, sabi ni google ay nakakalason, nakakasira o nakakamatay. I hope hindi tayo ganyan, sa ating behavior at sa ating mga relationship.

This pandemic is far from over, kahit na countries around the world are opening up their borders, easing restrictions and allowing businesses back to operation.

As we slowly crawl back sa normal nating mga buhay, hindi maiiwasan na malungkot tayo sa laki ng impact of negative outcomes it brought to our world and to our lives, madami pa rin ang may sakit, many have lost their families and loveones na hindi man lang nabigyan ng nararapat na pagluluksa.

Ang sabi nga nila, this virus is worse and a very serious threat than a war kasi nga di natin nakikita yun kalaban natin. And because of these many businesses have closed, maraming nalugi sa negosyo at sa mga investments nila, a lot have lost their jobs at yung mga pinagkakakitaan nila and is in deep financial trouble. The world is now in the brink of Great Recession or nandito na nga tayo marahil.

But despite of all this, this Corona Virus Pandemic has highlighted some important life lessons, kaya sa kabila ng lahat ng negatibong naidulot nito sa atin at sa ating mga buhay huwag rin nating kalimutan yun mga bagay na iiwan sa ating paala ng virus na ito.
