There are two tables set before us, both offering food for the spiritual and emotional hunger common to everyone. One is a table presenting food that the world provides, and the other is the table of the kingdom of God. The devil has made his table and food ubiquitous—it’s around every corner, hot and ready for our times of weakness and hunger. And we will fall for his fare every time unless we’ve made a preemptive plan and “packed a lunch” from the sustenance of the kingdom of God.
