We’ve all been there! You sit down to relax, break out your phone, start browsing your favorite social media, and you see a good friend or your favorite Pro angler landing a huge bass! What feelings go through your mind? Are you psyched for them to land another lunker, or do you wish you could be the one pulling in another tank?

On today’s Noobs show we welcome back Ben Nowak to talk about the impact social media has on our lives, from fishing to family to our lives in general. Recently, Ben took to his social media page and posted a video where he discusses his feelings on social media and how it has affected him over the past few years. It was very engaging and I felt he conveyed a lot of thoughts we all have in common so we asked him to join us on the show to discuss it.

Together Ben, Susie and Sean talk about the illusions social media gives us, of both amazing catches and the allure of life on the road tournament fishing, as well as hiding all of the work and sacrifice that goes on behind the screen to make those moments possible. We discuss how to approach this from a positive and realistic aspect to maintain a healthy outlook and positive mindset when it comes to our reactions to the social media we consume.

On todays episode of Bass Fishing for Noobs, Susie & Sean sit down with Kurt Smits to talk about DIY wiring electronics on your kayak.

It can seem and feel overwhelming when trying to figure out how to wire everything together, but Kurt helps break things down in simpler terms. Some key things to keep in mind is to always refer to the user manual of each piece of equipment you’re going to be running to determine what gauge wire and kind/size of fuses you will need. Not having the correct size of wire alone can greatly increase the risk of corrosion, overheating, or not having enough current going to the device. The second key thing to keep in mind is to keep connections as few and as simple as possible. Having a direct line running from the battery to the device is the best way to ensure there won’t be any faults in the wiring. If you do need to connect wires, Kurt prefers to solder any and all connections. This creates a solid, metal connection to ensure the most complete connection.

We take a brief look at how Kurt runs and manages his wiring system in his Hobie PA and has a nice, clean, and efficient way to mount and put wires and connections. Even if you’re not an electrician or the thought of electricity might intimidate you, this is definitely an episode you’ll want to check out!

Tonight on the Bass Fishing for Noobs show we welcome Ken Glassner Sr. of Ken’s Jigs to the show. Ken runs his own business making a wide variety of jig heads and other products. Ken's weedless Ned rig heads have made fishing the Ned rig on the Susquehanna so much better, helping to avoid snags so much better than a normal mushroom style Ned head with an exposed hook. It has become a staple on Sean’s kayak and has lead to many more catches.

We start by learning a bit about Ken and how he got in to fishing and making his own baits. We then jump in to all the different products Ken produces as well as different ways they can be used. Ken has many different products available from underspins, darter heads, tube heads, ball head jigs, and ned heads, available in a ton of different colors.
