The next Star Wars streaming series, "Skeleton Crew" will debut on Disney+ on December 3rd of this year. The show takes place at the same time as "The Mandalorian" and will therefore be part of the unofficial "Mandoverse", so named by the fans. The question that always comes to the mind of a Star Wars obsessive like myself is: What familiar characters will appear and what will this series add to the overall story of the galaxy far, far away? Star Wars: The Acolyte ended a few weeks ago, and even now I'm still trying to digest the heavy subject matter presented in the show. Our next series from that galaxy far, far away is the upcoming Skeleton Crew, which is described as a throwback adventure series in the tradition of 1980s classics such as "E.T." and "The Goonies". When four young kids in the time of The Mandalorian get lost somewhere in the galaxy, they have to use their wits to navigate their way back home. For a long time we as fans assumed that red lightsabers had red crystals, thus giving them their distinctive color. A few years ago, the Darth Vader comic series revealed that a red crystal is not naturally occurring, but rather the result of a Dark Side user pouring their anger and hate into a normal crystal and "bleeding" it red. After the Galactic Empire's defeat in Return of the Jedi, the shattered remnants eventually regrouped and formed the First Order. When this concept was first introduced in the Star Wars saga it seemed very straightforward. As time has gone on more and more of the story has been revealed, the formation of the First Order is not as simple as we originally thought. This past weekend was the San Diego International Comic Con, the king of all nerd conventions! While there were no major announcements regarding the movies or the shows, Lucasfilm Publishing had a significant amount of news regarding the books and comics which will continue the saga of Star Wars as they have been doing very successfully for many years. During the course of The Acolyte, we witnessed the first on-screen appearance of Darth Plagueis the Wise. In Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, Palpatine claims that Plagueis could use the Force to create life. In The Acolyte we learn that Mae and Osha were created by Mother Aniseya by means of the Force. Did Plagueis teach the coven the secret, or did he learn it from them? If we go by what has been said in Star Wars Legends, could this knowledge, however learned, lead to the creation of Anakin Skywalker himself? Join me!
