Despite her frequent hospitalisations since age 5 and the ongoing disruptions to her education - Danielle has not allowed her illness to silence her. Instead she has utilised her voice to inspire change in the Sickle Cell community both locally and globally. As best demonstrated through her TED x Talk “The Big Black Blood Issue”, speaking engagements at Google x Facebook and appearances on BBC Africa and ITV news.

She hopes to play a role in changing the discourse surrounding chronic illness, namely sickle cell. Equipping sicklers with the tools they need to develop self advocacy skills, whilst also pushing for necessary reform within the health care system.”
