It's sober September in the Dinks' house. Time to tackle some new creative projects!

This week we're launching our Patreon. For those of you who don't know what Patreon is, it's a membership platform that allows creatives to get paid for creating the things that they're already making. Patreon is an online community where people support creatives by paying a few bucks a month, or a lot of bucks a month, to directly support and engage with creatives.

In this episode we try talking without our tongues, or lips, and even give a try at throwing our voices like a ventriloquist. 

We returned to the Lower Mainland in BC for the first time since moving to Calgary. It was Memere & Pepere's 65th Anniversary which means a big Carriere Family party was put on. It was a weekend crammed full of Game Tournaments, drinking, music, singing, BBQ burgers & dogs and Japanese Salad. We concluded with a couple of days through the Okanagan to drop Chantel's brother at his home and to visit the area where Chantel grew up.

How did you learn to cook? This week we talk about how we learned to cook, bake, and prepare food. It creates an opportunity to do something together and builds confidence in your ability to provide for yourself and others. When you realize you can make a week's worth of bread for less than a dollar, cooking and baking also becomes a great way to cut back on costs.

What ensues is a wildly twisting and entertaining discussion with a multitude of unrehearsed answers and tangents galore! Can you talk about your sex life with your parents? Can you survive a night alone in the dark? Can you pull off alligator skin clothes with confidence? (Fake alligator, of course)

The night Jake & Chantel first spoke, Jake, made a recording of some music in the voice notes of his phone. He labeled it "Chantel" because it reminded him of Chantel. In January 2022, Jake expanded upon that first recording and turned it into a 3-and-a-half-minute song. In this 10th episode of the podcast, we sit down and listen to the two recordings and talk about them - along with some tangents about ducks in the river!

Jake's parents came to visit for a week. Chantel's parent's came to visit during the same week. Our house has one bathroom. The week was quite busy and involved filing a report with the Calgary Police, air frying lots of foods, and some French words. 

Full disclosure, we drank a bottle of wine while recording this episode almost immediately after our family had all left. Cheers to making it to Episode 9! 

Part 2 of our trip to Disneyland and Southern California. Less complaining, more focus on the good times we had and what was still magical and enjoyable about our time in Annaheim - plus visits with friends & family in the area!
