Paired

Listen Later

Paired

Today the fragrant flowers adorn the aisles and the tables

Suit coats and pretty dresses; wedding bells hang from the

gables

I fix my eyes upon my son and his lovely soon-to-be bride

Choke back a tear as the warmth and love fill me up inside

I remember holding him just seconds after watching him be

born

I was just a little older than he is today that snowy

January morn

Never could I have imagined how much joy that moment would

bring

From walking, talking, learning, excelling, to watching him

place the ring

I sure marveled that day, while his mom did all the work I

just stared

I’m sure she’s looking down, smiling just like me as our

young man’s paired

Brought together by chance, we knew a thing or two about all

that

What ended up being our family, began with an innocent

little chat

Love finds you, doesn’t really work well the other way

around

Here today it found you both and now forever you will be

bound

Ready to carry her over your new threshold into your future

together

Your new home built with love, inside it’s always the

perfect weather

Maltese mayhem may soon be joined by little voices, playing

a big part

A growing family that will capture your attention and warm

your heart

All sparkling in the eyes of the guy who felt the same thing

the day he dared

To stand before all as you two do today, smiling joining

hearts forever paired

May you always lay your heads down, free from any troubles

or strife

Any animosities that popped up earlier, let them go and

softly kiss your wife

Wake to a new day, full of hope and joy, alongside the one who

makes it all seem bright

Share the sun when it shines, the umbrella in the rain, be

the warm, safe place at night

Listen to each other’s dreams, go there together in your

mind and see the magic

Hold on to them always, kept as a refuge should life throw

you something tragic

Learn your lovers tells, know thoughts as well as the words

that are spoken

Prove the rings you place today mean now and forever, not

merely a token

These vows more than a promise, this love’s a lifetime perpetually

shared

As you come together, never more to stand alone, two souls

forever paired

Congratulations kids! I love you both!
