Hay una serie de palabras que el 90% de mis alumnos usan mal.

Algunas de ellas son "falsos amigos", esas palabras que en tu idioma son muy similares, pero que en español tienen un significado muy diferente. Seguro que sabes de qué te hablo, ¿verdad?

Algunas de estas palabras te sonarán mucho, y otras quizás no tanto.

La cuestión es que hasta que no empiezas a utilizarlas, no eres consciente de que las usas mal. Y muchas veces, muchas, la persona que te escucha te entiende, y entonces no te corrige.

Por eso las clases de conversación funcionan tan bien. Porque practicas, disfrutas del proceso y casi sin darte cuenta tu español va mejorando.

A veces, mis alumnos no son conscientes de lo mucho que mejoran. Yo voy tomando notas de cada clase, y puedo ver cada mes la evolución. A veces muy evidente, otras muy sutil, pero siempre está. Y eso es lo que más me gusta de mi trabajo.

There are several words that 90% of my students misuse.

Some of these are 'false friends': words that sound similar in your language but have different meanings in Spanish. I'm sure you know what I mean.

Some of these words will sound familiar, and others perhaps not so much.

The point is that you don't realize you're using them incorrectly until you start using them. Often, the person listening understands you and doesn't correct you.

That's why conversation classes are so effective. You practise, enjoy the process and, almost without realizing it, your Spanish improves.

Sometimes my students aren't even aware of how much they're improving. I take notes in every class and can therefore see their progress each month. Sometimes it's obvious and other times it's more subtle, but it's always there. That's what I love most about my job.
