Today's episode is a summary of Alvin York's life so you can get to know the man we will be spending a few of our first episodes on.

This is a reading of a paper written by the late Dr. Michael Birdwell, a good friend of the park and former curator of the York Archives who passed away in 2022. To honor his memory we will be reading his paper titled "Alvin York: the Man, the Myth, the Legacy." We hope you find it interesting and informative.

Hello there and welcome to our introductory episode of the Pall Mall Doughboys Podcast! In this episode we discuss who we are and why we are starting this podcast.

This podcast was started by the Sergeant Alvin C. York State Historic Park in Pall Mall, Tennessee. As the home place of one the most well known First World War Medal of Honor recipients we strive to keep the memory of those that served, or had some part in the Great War, alive and not forgotten.

While our first few episodes will focus on Sgt. York we will cover a wide range of topics covering WWI. We hope to educate everyone with this family friendly podcast, or spark an interest or curiosity to do your own research journey.

We hope you join us!
