We are in week 6 of our Rivals series at Compass Worship. We are looking at some of the rivalries in God's Word and how we can keep from repeating history and see some amazing characteristics of our God. This week we looked at the rivalry between our expectations vs. God's plan. We looked at Matthew 21 and saw that on Palm Sunday the people expected their Messiah to be different than He truly was. They wanted a worldly figure to deliver them from worldly oppressions but Jesus, the King of kings had his face set on delivering all people for all time from the penalty of sin. Jesus came to rescue us from so much more than our temporary struggles, He came to set us spiritually free forever. So when our expectations of what Jesus is doing are only focused on the here and now we are missing the true reason that God sent Jesus into the world in the first place - to save souls.
