An improvisational livestreamed performance based on my piece, Magnetic Field Recordings. This set was performed for the 2021 edition of Ann Arbor Film Festival.

Magnetic Field Recordings, 2021

A series of images and sounds collected over the course of several years, using cameras, a radio scanner, oscillators, and an oscilloscope. The result is a hybrid space combining footage from various sites with electronically produced signals and transmissions. Locations of the recordings include Brooklyn, upstate New York, Chicago, and Central Asia.

Channel 1 (left): stop motion animation of pinhole light source refracting through a rotating piece of hot-formed glass. Recorded with DSLR sensor, no lens.

Channel 2 (right): top-down view of the same hot-formed glass rotating. Recorded with a lens (normal video).

Performance for the virtual opening of SPACE(TIME) THRESHOLDS, my MFA thesis exhibition.

Ferrofluid suspended in saline, manipulated by a system of programmatically electromagnetic coils. The sound is based on the same control signals that were sent into the electromagnets.
