Welcome to the Pan de Dios podcast with Christina Johnson.
Today I'm with Janet Conner. I met her over the phone about 15 years ago when I was living in Mississippi and I had no one to talk to about these kinds of things. Her book Writing Down Your Soul was everything to me.
Janet is a prayer artist. That's what she calls herself. And in this episode, she tells me why.
She also tells me about a moment in the middle of the night when she heard a voice. A voice that changed everything.
I won't tell you the whole story. You have to listen.
But I will say this: Janet has spent years redefining prayer. And what she found might change how you think about it too.
Come sit with us.

Janet Conner is the author of Writing Down Your Soul, Soul Vows, and The Lotus and the Lily. She hosted The Soul Directed Life radio show for six years, interviewing hundreds of spiritual authors. In 2018, she was awakened in the middle of the night by a voice that said "prayer artist." Since then, she has redefined prayer and created prayer intensives that have touched people around the world.
She lives in Florida with her books, her journals, and her Joan of Arc.

Welcome to the Pan de Dios podcast with Christina Johnson.
This is a special edition. Just me, by myself, honoring Dolly Parton since her passing.
Dolly was Pan de Dios to me. That's what the name means — something really good. Uncorrupted. Solid good.
I wrote a blessing for her. And in this episode, I read it.
I won't share it here. Some things need to be heard in a voice, not read on a screen. But I will say this: it's about her feet, her song, her soul, and the stairway she's climbing now.
Come sit with me.

Today we have sweet Alanna Levenson with us.
She's an executive coach. She's been doing this work for 21 years. She's brilliant at what she does.
And then one night, driving to salsa class, something happened.
I won't tell you the whole story. You have to listen.
But I will say this: Alanna heard something. She paid attention. She acted. And now her life is completely different.
Come sit with us. It's a good one.

my sisters Mary Lou and Georgeanne sit down with me to honor our mother, Betty Jones.
We called her Jonesy.
She was a traditional Texan who became a living legend. We told stories – some funny, some wild, all true. A border crossing at night. A Moroccan Pasha. A six-year-old who saw with his heart.
We laughed. We cried. We remembered.

Maureen Rogers was a ski bum in Utah. She had a snowboarding accident. A severe whiplash. She couldn't lift her head.
A doctor looked at her and almost cried.
That moment changed everything.
Maureen found craniosacral therapy. It healed her. Then she started healing horses. Then she taught others. Now she's taken this work around the world.
But I won't tell you the whole story. You have to hear how the universe pivoted her. How a foal named Willy opened a door. How one person's "yes" became a global gift.

May your Pan de Dios always be rising.
Robert March and I worked at the same restaurant in Santa Fe, New Mexico, at the same time — he was a cook, I was a waitress. We'd chat from time to time and discovered we shared some esoteric interests. One day he called me out of the blue and said he'd dreamed about me and felt he should get to know me better. Would I like to go on a picnic?
We had a grand picnic, became dear friends, bonded by a shared love of dance, healthy food, and the blend of the sensual and the spiritual — the heart opening in the fire of service, the devotion of spirit moving through the breath of God.
We also believed in the power of dreams.
In this episode of Pan de Dios Moments, Robert shares his story — of a 7-year-old boy who felt God in a church, of spiritual teachers in India, of a lifetime of seeking and finding the divine.
He talks about the connection he felt with his mother while singing in church, the bliss that flooded his being, and the long journey that followed — through sports, through spiritual masters, through the Sufis, and finally to a deep healing that transformed his life.
Robert also shares a powerful teaching about self-love, about the divinity within each of us, and about a mantra that has anchored him for over 23 years.
This is a conversation about the divine in everyday life. About the thread that connects us all. About the bread of God — the Pan de Dios — that is always rising.

About the Podcast:
Pan de Dios Moments is a podcast about the moments that stop us — moments of unexpected kindness, grace, and connection that remind us we are never truly alone.
Hosted by Christina Johnson, LPC, each episode features conversations with friends, family, and souls about the moments in their lives that were so full of love and light they had to share them.
May your Pan de Dios always be rising.
Sometimes the best way forward is to go slow.
In 2012, I had a spinal surgery that was a real crisis. The surgeon made a mistake. A bone spin went directly to my lumbar area and froze my nerves, leaving me paralyzed on the right side.
I was told I would probably never walk again. And I would certainly never dance tango again.
But I had a word that carried me through: hooly.
It's a Scottish word for taking it very cautiously and slow. With tiny circles of my toes, with meditation and yoga, with a tango partner who never gave up on me—I began to move again. From a wheelchair. From canes. From tiny, tiny steps.
This is the story of recovery. Of taking it slowly and mindfully. Of telling your body: Yes! You are well! You can recover! You have been strong. You will be strong.
And of believing it.
Come sit with me. I'll tell you what happened.

Dawnmarie and I went to university together. She has a story I will never forget.
Dawnmarie Presley, C.Ht., is a spiritual mindset coach and hypnotherapist. She believes that there is no emotional or mental challenge too great to overcome. It is her deepest desire to help treat the whole person; mind, body, and spirit.
One day, she died.
I won't tell you how. Or why. Or what happened after.
But I will say this: she came back with something extraordinary. A knowing about love. About forgiveness. About a shield that cannot be broken.
She learned that the worst parts of her were beautiful to God.
And that the person who hurt her? Loved just as much.
You have to hear it from her.
