As the conclusion to our Holiday Kids Club week, Jono explains how the good news of Jesus is "armour" God gives us to put on.
Is Christianity a trap that drains you or a treasure that blesses you? Rod explores how we're on the giving end of our relationship with God - we're on the receiving end.
Jesus gives his disciples a timeline for his departure and return, and says the time in between will be a time of grief, prayer, and faith.
Jono explores three questions that strike us in this passage: Who is the Advocate? What does he do? Why is he an advantage for us?
Jon explains why and how Jesus prepares his disciples for persecution.
The disciples are concerned that Jesus is leaving them, but he is concerned that they will leave him. So he gives them the picture of the vine and the command to love.
Jesus promises to send the Holy Spirit as his personal presence with his disciples
Guest speaker Fili Lolohea talks about how Jesus is the way, the truth and the life.
Through Johns gospel Jesus has been revealing God to us. He has also been revealing what we're like - as he reveals God more clearly so some follow him, but also many walk away, because he exposes the rebellion that is in their hearts. As the cross approaches he reveals God's glory in loving self-sacrifice, and he exposes the emptiness in our sinful glory hunting. Judas, who loves money more than Jesus opts out. Peter, who values self preservation more than Jesus will learn to repent and trust in Jesus. This passage invites us to consider if we love Jesus above all else, and to see his glory even in suffering and death (which is so different from the way the world measures glory).
Jesus uses the visual aid of washing feet to explain both the cleansing of the cross and the serving of other disciples.
