Shift Key from North London is the latest young producer to move bass music further into the future. Shift Key broke into the scene with the massive "Let You Down", immediately being picked up by Borgore for his Buygore imprint and going on Annie Mac's show on BBC Radio One.
He's one of the frontrunners of one of the latest new genres called trap music, which, growing out of dubstep, moombahton and other bass music, has created one of the strongest fusions of electronic music and hiphop to date. It's giving us some wildly weird and amazing music and Shift Key is pushing it as hard as he can, until of course the genre renames itself in to the next hot thing. As that seems to be how it goes at the moment, with genres popping up and dying out in matter of months. But Shift Key's sound is a lot more versatile and futuristic than most trap I hear and it seems he can easily stand the test of time.
