PanSALB condemns profiling people through language accents

The Pan South African Language Board, PanSALB has voiced strong concern over reports of people facing discrimination based on the languages they speak during ongoing anti-immigration protests. PanSALB stresses that while illegal immigration needs addressing, no one should be targeted or suspected simply because of their accent or mother tongue. CEO Dr. Keaobaka Seshoka pointed out that in Africa, language often crosses borders and cannot reliably indicate nationality.
