Welcome back to Paper Mountains Podcast! We have something very different with this episode, and I am very excited to share this with you today! I was first sparked with this idea when I was reading articles on the current protests in Peru, but western media seemed to be missing a lot of the story.
I was pretty bummed out because we traveled this country for 5 weeks last year, and it was a beautiful experience. The people, the landscape, just everything. This country has so much history and culture to share with the world, and I wanted to help share some insight to their history and try to understand the current state of the country.
I hope you enjoy this episode, learn some history, and broaden your perspective on the world. I know I enjoyed making this, so please let me know if you enjoyed this episode and style! All chapters are detailed above in the description, if you are interested in a specific topic.

  • 24. Morgan Talks to Her Grandma About Life | Interview with Pearl Nye
This is Morgan's Grandmother, Pearl Steyer-Nye. They sit down to have a conversation on what's changed in her lifetime, a little bit of their family history, and perspective on the world around us. She has a fantastic life-story, loves to talk (on her schedule), and has seen a lot in her lifetime.
Pearl married Carl Nye when she was 19. They had 10 children, and now she over 50 grandchildren, and even more great-grandchildren!
I believe that is important that we continue to learn from our elders. Thank you for the conversation, Morgan & Pearl!

  • 20. Learning about Brazilian Favelas from Jorge & Paula
Welcome to the 20th episode special!
Be sure watch the video as well, because this is Part 4 of our Brazil road trip! I wanted to do something different with this episode!
    https://youtu.be/UxWBoCeVsNw
On our way to Rio, Jorge began talking about the history of Brazil's favelas and I had the idea for this video. The content here is heavy, I know, but I am extremely happy how this project came out. It feels raw. I didn't want to shy away from the realities that many of the people in Rio face daily and gloss over it with a "typical" tourist video that only showcases the beaches, nightlife, and beautiful landscapes.
It's hard to do because this city is truly beautiful. We had nothing but an incredible experience! We had no issues, nor did we ever feel in danger. I can't even begin to try to understand the situations that Jorge discuses in this video. I hope that you can go into this video with an open mind, learn, but most importantly take the opportunity to experience Rio de Janeiro for yourself in the future!
Rio de Janeiro is crazy, beautiful, and hypocrisy. I have nothing but love for Brazil and the people of Rio!
Also, I apologize for the lack of videos. Going forward for the rest of this series I will have a consistent upload schedule.
Watch the video and subscribe to follow the whole journey! https://www.youtube.com/jakewelly
    I hope you enjoy.

    The Traveling Wellburys Blog! https://travelingwellburys.com/
It’s been roughly 6 months since we left our jobs to start traveling the world. It is crazy how fast time flies! It seems like we have done so much, but at the same time it feels like there is so much more to explore. I wanted to record a conversation with Morgan to explain our thoughts thus far on this journey. In this hour, we dive into a number of topics that include: Morgan’s blog, ask why airlines have such terrible customer service, give our perspective on traveling with some (hopefully) helpful tips, our Brazil road trip plan, have a Sapiens book review, and discuss being disconnected to the news cycle.
    Enjoy!

Josh is one of my oldest friends. We went to pre-school together, cheated off of each other's tests in high-school, learned new skills at trade school, then partied together through college, and now we continue to stay in touch over a few beers every year. Josh majored in Business and Supply Chain Management at Bowling Green State University. Following college graduation, he followed his roots back home, and is in the process of remodeling a house in his hometown of New Riegel with his wife, Heather, and 2 year old son, Merrick. He works with people across the world in the supply-chain and raw material purchasing for Goodyear Tire. Josh is just an all around awesome guy, and I was very excited for this conversation.

    To Our Friends and family,
Yes, we are alive. Yes, everything is great. Yes, we miss you too, but life is going great. If you are following our story at all, then you are well aware of what we are doing. As discussed in previous videos, we left our "normal" jobs to travel the world at this time of our lives. Currently, we have been immersing ourselves in the culture of Southern Brazil, specifically, the states of Parana and Santa Catarina. We have met incredible people, improved our Portuguese, and completely adjusted our lives from the the hustle-work lifestyle. This video was made to catalog our perspective and experience thus far in our travels, since we are only 5 weeks in. Check it out!
    Enjoy!
    Jacob
