In this week's podcast, I discuss the very recent and sad passing of the legendary Scottish James Bond actor, Sean Connery. In particular, I delve deeper into his love affair with golf which began when he took up the sport in preparation for his golfing scenes in the 1964 film, Goldfinger. I also discuss the problems with buying golf clubs from the likes of eBay, Facebook and Gumtree, especially counterfeit clubs. Fear not, I'll share my top tips for spotting a fake club should you decide to go down the second-hand market route.
England is heading for another lockdown and golf is firmly off the menu, but the new World Handicap System (WHS) was served up on Monday (2nd November). Find out a little more about how my handicap has changed and the video from @OpenStanceGolf you really should watch if you've still not gotten your head around it.
I'll take a look back at last week's Cyprus Open on the European Tour where Callum Shinkwin picked up his first European Tour title and I'll look ahead to this week's Houston Open - the PGA Tour's final stop before the rescheduled Masters.
In this episode of the Par 5 Podcast, I share my own personal experience of attending the greatest team golf event in the world - the Ryder Cup. I talk about going to the 2014 Ryder Cup at Gleneagles where I was lucky enough to have a front-row seat as the players hit their opening tee shots. I've also included the audio from some videos I captured to share with you, which are not to be missed.
As well as the Ryder Cup I also discuss the ever-elusive (for most of us) hole in one, share some odds, stats and fun facts as well as my own personal hole in one story...which still haunts me to this day.
If that wasn't enough, I recap last week's PGA and European Tour events as well as look forward to this week's Scottish Open at the Renaissance and Sanderson Farms Championship in M-I-S-S-I-S-S-I-P-P-I.
As always, please let me know your thoughts about this podcast or anything discussed, either in the comments area below, via my website (linked above) or Instagram.
In this episode of the Par 5 Podcast, I dissect the 2020 US Open where Bryson DeChambeau picked up his maiden major win in style at a tough Winged Foot Golf Club. I also share three fantastic golf books that every golf fan should know about and give a read, and I'll share with you my own golfing updates from this week including a poor showing in the weekly medal and some lunchtime practise.
As always, please let me know your thoughts about this podcast or anything discussed, either in the comments area below, via my website (linked above) or Instagram.
In this US Open special edition of my Par 5 Podcast, I preview this week's 120th U.S Open at Winged Foot Golf Club. I talk about the history of the competition at Winged Foot, how the course will be set up and challenge the players this week, how the field was constructed and the three players I think have a chance at glory come Sunday evening.
I'll also recap last week's Safeway Open on the PGA Tour, the Portugal Masters on the European Tour where one player was forced to pull their clubs along on a two-wheeled trolley after their caddie got injured, and I'll talk about that wall at the ANA Inspiration at Mission Hills.
Finally, I'll finish off with an update on my golf game including my recent visit to Wells Green Driving Range for a lesson with PGA pro, Scott Rose where I gained some valuable swing fixes and had a shot of some pretty cool tech.
As always, I hope you enjoy the podcast and please do check out my Instagram page and my site Andy's Golf Blog.
In this, the first episode of my Par 5 Podcast, I discuss last week's PGA Tour Championship won by Dustin Johnson and the crazy money won by those who took part, even finishing in 30th place. I also look back at last week's windy European Tour's Andalucia Masters where John Catlin won his maiden European Tour title and no players finished under par. I look ahead to this week's Safeway Open - the first event of the new PGA Tour, caddies being allowed to use buggies at the ladies second major of the year and Tommy Fleetwood teeing it up in Portugal on the European Tour. As well as all that, I discuss the latest news from the world of golf including the inclusion of fans at the Champion's Tour this week and the brand new Titleist TSI 2 and 3 drivers being used by some tour pros. Finally, I finish up talking about my recent visit to the stunning Eyemouth Golf Club on the east coast of Scotland which boasts the most incredible par 3 I've ever played as well as the longest hole in Scotland.

This is a call to help save the game of golf. Okay, golf isn't quite that desperate (yet) but with a lot of golf clubs across the country closing down, it's time we do all we can to get those junior golfers joining and using our golf clubs, In episode 6 of the Par 5 Podcast, I talk briefly of my experience as a junior at a golf club and how I feel attitudes towards junior golfers must change to ensure more clubs don't close down and that sport doesn't suffer as a result.

So, the Dunhill Links is over for another year. Victor Perez clinched his maiden European Tour title and a cheque f0r £800,000 at the Home of Golf, however, if you google 'Dunhill Links' you'll find little about Perez and a lot about Rory McIlroy.
After his final round on Sunday, Rory, who finished -15 (7 behind the Perez) was rather critical of the European Tour and the difficulty (or apparent lack of) of their events. His heat of the moment outburst has split opinion in the world of golf, so in this Par 5 Podcast special, I shed some light on the incident and give my thoughts on the matter.
