  • God’s Alarm Clock
God's Alarm ClockINTRODUCTION:Someone has said, "an alarm clock is a contraption designed to scare the daylight into us." We need the daylight scared into us. We pray that this message will be God’s Alarm Clock to awaken the sleeping saints. There are several times in the bible when God mentions what time it is according to His time clock.SCRIPTURE:Our text is just one of those Scriptures that reveal God’s time clock. Peter says "For the time is come."FOUR ALARMS:God’s alarm clock is going off all around us. Let us take the Bible and just mention a few of the alarms that are going off.I. TIME TO WAKE UP - Romans 13:11"And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed." God is saying, "Wake up. "There is such a great need for the slumbering saint to wake up.> A man came into church and he thought he would impress his pastor, so he said, "Pastor, give me a good prayer to pray unto entering the sanctuary." The pastor knew him and knew his habits, so the pastor suggested, "Why don’t you pray, ‘Now I lay me down to sleep.’ God’s alarm clock is going off all around us and we are still asleep.> Someone has said the average church member comes in the church, sits down, and hangs a sign around their neck, saying, "Please,?Don’t disturb." The Bible teaches that the time is short. The Bible teaches that "Our salvation is nearer than when we believed."> There are three tenses to salvation. I was saved. 2. I am now being saved. 3. I shall be saved.I was saved from the penalty of sin. I am being saved from the power of sin. One day, thank God, I will be saved from the presence of sin. It seems like the closer we get to the coming of Jesus, the sleepier some of the saints are.  There is God’s Alarm clock going off everywhere. There are signs everywhere. There are "war sings." There are "earthquake signs." There are the "outer Space signs." There are the "apostasy signs." There are signs of the return of Israel to the Holy Land.> Dr. Vance Havener said he was riding on a train with a man and discussing the signs of time. The man was so amazed, he said, "Dr. Havener, if someone wrote it in a book nobody would believe it.’‘ Dr. Havener said, "Sir, someone has written it in a book and nobody believes it." TIME TO FACE UP: I Peter 4:17"For the time is come that judgement must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the Gospel of God?" God is saying here in this Scripture, that it is time for judgment to start at the House of God.> There are two kinds of judgment spoken of in this Scripture. One is the Corrective judgment of the church and the other is the Condemnation judgment of the sinner. The Corrective Judgment for the church is for the churches of this day to "Face Up" to the fact that we are going through some hard times.  Some of these fair weather Christians are going to have to make up their mind as to whether they are going to serve Jesus Christ or not. It hasn’t cost us much to be Christians so far, but the day may come when it will cost us to name the name of Jesus.> We sing now, "To the Old Rugged Cross I’ll ever be true." This may be challenged sooner than we think.III. TIME TO SOBER UP: I Cor. 7:29-30"But this I say, brethren, the time is short: it remaineth, that both they that have wives be as though they had none; And they that weep, as though they wept not; and they that rejoice, as though they rejoiced not; and they that buy, as though they possessed not." The Apostle Paul is saying that we as Christians ought to be living in the urgency of the time.  Can’t you tell that we are living in a day when things are happening quickly? This is a time to be serious. Paul was telling the Corinthians that it was time to put some things first.ILLS> He said in verse 29, that our families cannot come first. He said in verse 30, that our worries cannot come first. He said in verse 30, that our pleasures cannot come first. He said in verse 30, that our possessions cannot come first. It is time to put the cause of Jesus Christ first. TIME TO LOOK UP: Hosea 10:12Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the Lord." What time is it? It is time to look up. It is time to seek the Lord.> "Fallow ground" is that ground that is not broken up. It is laying waste.B. It is time to break up that "fallow ground" and get ready for the coming of the Lord.  We need to "Sow in righteousness." We need to get all our loved one and friends saved before it is too late.

  • Seven Sad Steps of Wickedness
Seven Sad Steps of WickednessText: Ps. 36:1-4Intro:What is wrong with our country?  The undeniable conclusion is that what is wrong with America is the wickedness of God’s people.  The Psalmist provides us with seven sad steps of wickedness. No fear of God.Verse 1There is no longer a fear of God from God’s people.“Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter, fear God and keep his commandments for the is the whole duty of man.”  Eccl. 12:13God’s people forfeit their testimony. There is no stand for right. There is the theft of the tithe and offerings. There are no standards.Few delight in His Word. There is no longer a fear of God from the unsaved. When saved people live like saved people, unsaved people will want to become saved people. Why should the unsaved fear a God that even the saved will not fear?Self-flattery.Verse 2Flattery is unearned praise.“I’m doing alright.”“I’m still spiritual.”“I am not as bas as …”The way of the fool is right in his own eyes.  Prov. 12:15Read II Cor. 10:12.Never alter principles based on the lives of believers; alter lives based on principles in the Word of God.III.  Sinful speech.Verse 3aThe cursing tongue is a great hindrance and a sad advertisement. It is appalling what believers will say.The downward path to total wickedness continues with sinful speech.Eph. 4:29 “Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth…”Stopped the doing of good.Verse 3bThe decline to wickedness continues by ceasing to do the good and the wise.“He that winneth souls is wise.”  Prov. 11:30“Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.”  James 4:17“He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.” Prov. 13:20 Wickedness progresses as our spirituality declines.Dreams mischief.Verse 4This is a term that describes vanity and wickedness.“The carnal mind is at enmity against God.”  Rom 8:7When you cease to dream about doing the good, you will dream about doing the evil. The uncultivated field always produces weeds. The thought life of the believer reveals his holiness or wickedness.Wrong direction (or path).Verse 4If you are not on the right path, you are on the wrong path.“Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.”  Matt. 7:14If you do not build upon the good, you will be destroyed by the evil.Wickedness is encountered when the wrong path is chosen. This is not a thoughtless decision.  No.  It is the consequence of not choosing the right path.VII.  No separation.Verse 4c“He abhoreth not evil.”Your hatred (or love) for sin reveals your spiritual state. This is the idea of entertaining sin.Wickedness permits the wicked.VIII.  Application. This is the picture of too many believers.Too many believers become careless.Where does it start?  When the believer no longer fears God!

  • Are You A Fellow Laborer?
Are You A Fellow Laborer?Text: Philemon 1:1 & 1 Cor. 3:1-10 Introduction: What is a fellow laborer? Is it someone who watches as others do all of the work? Is it someone who does all the work? Or Is it someone who works with others to accomplish something? Fellow laborer - a co-laborer, companion in labour, (fellow-) helper (-labourer, -worker), I. God Has Called All Of His To Be Laborers – V. 9 A. He included everyone that is savedB. There no such thing as an unemployed ChristianC. The Great Commission is for every man, women, and child.Mat. 28:19,20 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.D. He has equipped everyone He has called. A man by the name of Herman Ostry's barn floor was under 29 inches of water because of a rising creek. The Bruno, Nebraska, farmer invited a few friends to a barn raising. He needed to move his entire 17,000-pound barn to a new foundation more than 143 feet away. His son Mike devised a lattice work of steel tubing, and nailed, bolted, and welded it on the inside and the outside of the barn. Hundreds of handles were attached. After one practice lift, 344 volunteers slowly walked the barn up a slight incline, each supporting less than fifty pounds. In just three minutes, the barn was on its new foundation. The body of Christ can accomplish great things when we work together.II. God Has Equipped Everyone He Has CalledA. Different Gifts1.
