We explore the story of Moses hiding in the desert to look moments in our own lives when we are off the map, driven into the unknown, and the chaos of life breaks us down. (Don't worry, its a feel good sermon!) We also hear Dr. Mike's diatribe against moon beams and sparkle ponies, one of his favorite stories about his sister. and some nerd knowledge about Egyptian mythology.

Pastor Mike Landsman preaches on the story of Gideon and the fleeces from Judges 6:36-40 and how like Gideon looked for signs of certainty about what God had already gifted him and called him to do, we also look for signs of certainty in the difficulties of our own lives. He also speaks on how we seek assurance of our call, our vocation, and of God’s love and how God reaches out to us in spite of our fears.

We use the life of young Moses to discuss how sometimes life doesn't go according to plan. We are betrayed by our own actions, our people, and even our best ideals, but sometimes this can lead to a benevolent breakdown. Dr. Mike also reveals which scholar he wished he'd named his dog after, the secret American myth hidden in Westerns and SuperHero movies, and mentions mini muffins for some reason.

Kristy Christian Petrow discusses how we can wake up to the call of love and reveals it to be central to the life of our souls, the cosmos, and scripture. She also has fun as a word-nerd, shares some of her favorite authors, more adventures from her time as an inner city school teacher, and tells us how she learned to float.

"The first answer that EXODUS gives to the evil that men do, is the GOOD that WOMEN DO." We begin the life of Moses with a look at the first recorded instance of civil disobedience, and how these overlooked (s)heroes can remind our information obsessed culture that sometimes actions are more important than ideas or opinions. Dr. Mike also reveals which musical makes him cry, his favorite Egyptian god and pharaoh, which beverage kept him from seeing the catacombs at Alexandria, and what starfishing is. And we even discuss if the Exodus really happened historically.

Who was your family's favorite child? From this question, Dr. Mike explores psychology and scripture to talk about how we inherit familial issues, as we finally conclude our discussion on new ways to think about the Biblical concept of Sin. We also discuss Chugs, one of the Big Ol' But's in scripture, and sing a song from Mary Poppins.

Dr. Mike explores how our undealt with hurts can get stuck in our bodies, and interfere with our ability to feel alive. We also explore how new psychological research on trauma illuminates scriptural writing on sin and the sickness of the soul. Mike shares some of his own expericnes dealing with trauma, tells stories about his grandfather, and we discuss how important it is to get our bodies involved in our spiritual lives.

Dr. Mike reveals why he thinks the traditional understanding of "Original Sin" causes problems, and then considers recent research on PTSD as a new way to think about Paul's writings on sin--as a pandemic infection in humanity. We also hear a very bad rendition of the Adam and Eve story, his experiences with Nudists, and the drama of his escaping lizards.
