Avalon Jazz Band represents the Parisian and Golden Age swing spirit in New York City, with a repertoire of timeless American standards and French jazz songs: old classics with a hot twist celebrating France, love and music. Avalon Jazz Band offers a ride in a time machine, and brings you back to the Parisian zazou era of the 1930′s and 1940′s, when some inspired young people insisted on celebrating joy in the face of fascism.
Founder Tatiana Eva-Marie talks with Baruch about the music and the zazous, and we hear selections from the new CD Je Suis Swing as well as music from some other Paris artists of the time.
Special guest Nathan Boddie of the Bend Oregon City Council talks about the Not In Our Town Proclamation just passed by the City Council in Bend.
Music by: Django Reinhardt w/Stéphane Grappelli & The Quintet of the Hot Club de France, Avalon Jazz Band, Édith Piaf, and Josephine Baker
