  • John Patrick Elliot – The Little Unsaid “Stay Fragile All Across This Cold Frontier”

    John Patrick Elliot has been playing music since he was a child, discovering ways to bring his imagination to life with soundscapes and song.  He started out as a solo performer under the name The Little Unsaid but that eventually blossomed into a full band. They have released a number of albums and the most recent, just dropped, is Stay Fragile All Across This Cold Frontier, a collection of 11 tracks, each of which will take you on a trip.

    John is one of those people who lives music. John and Baruch discuss the music, inspirations, and the ever-present theme of art as metaphor, in exploring the meaning of human existence.

  • Ben Clifton – “Overlook”

    Ben Clifton is a pianist and composer.  He’s just released his debut album Overlook which is 14 original pieces all great to listen to, and to travel with in your mind. The compositions are dimensional and the musicianship on the record is excellent.  This is wonderful music.

    Ben shares some of his life experience with us in the conversation with Baruch, and we listen to some of the tracks from the album. This is an artist to follow.  He’s already working on compositions for the next album so definitely stay tuned!

    John Reed hosts a radio show The Compendium, writes a Blog, has a YouTube Channel, along with his music, all in service to his values of community, communication, and the common good.

    John is a family man, he has traveled the world as an international trade negotiator and consultant, and John is a musician always seeking out and learning from other musicians, and the muse.

    Dave Douglas plays trumpet, composes, and teaches. His new record is Alloy.

    Dave is a deep communicator. His compositions and his playing come from Dave’s inquisitive nature, and his altruism. He’s a realist with an imagination, who can see what’s so as well as what could be.

    The new record includes fellow celebrated artists, Alexandra Ridout and David Adewumi on trumpet, Patricia Brennan on vibes, Kate Pass on bass and Rudy Royston on drums.These folks bring friendship and generous sharing to the music.

    Alloy is inspired by personal experiences and current events.  Dave talks about these inspirations and more with Baruch.

    Matt Soverns hails from suburban Indiana where he grew up in a family of creatives.  His own creativity leans toward communication through theater, music, and comedy. Matt’s way of dealing with Covid is so cool, you will love the story he tells.

    Phoning It In is a full length album of original songs written and composed by Matt, inspired by his surroundings and the rich variety of music and art he has been exposed to, all coming through a sharp mind and friendly wit. The music is wonderfully performed and  enjoyable; some food for thought.

    Matt shares some of who has inspired him, and it’s a wide variety of artists of different sorts through time. If you’ve never heard of the folks he names, check them out!

    Travis Hall is a classically trained opera singer who is about to release his debut album of original R & B songs. Travis has been singing since he was a child in Georgia. Now as a classically trained adult, he has returned to his R & B roots with HeArt Museum. The full album will be available in October, but you can preview some of the songs on Travis Hall’s YouTube site.

    Travis and Baruch discuss Travis’ journey from R & B to Opera and then back again, as well as songwriting, composing, arranging, inspiration, and the challenges an up and comer faces.

  • Victoria Cardona – “Que Pasó”

    Victoria Cardona has released her debut album Que Pasó showcasing her original compositions, guitar and percussion.  Victoria is a powerhouse of energy and musical inspiration!

    Born and raised in Florida in the Cuban community, Victoria heard the music her grandfather and parents listened to, which influences her compositions and styles of playing, along with good old fashioned Rock’n Roll.

    Being a multicultural person informs Victoria’s world view, and she brings that to her music. Sometimes performing with a band and sometimes solo, Victoria plays in a variety of venues.  Catch her small venue performances now because soon she will be playing big shows. She’s up and coming!

    Hadar Noiberg has just released an album, a collaboration with Katia Toobool called . It was recorded live, so no studio effects or overdubs, just players and living music.

    Hadar has been playing the flute for most of her life. Her relationship with the music is intimate.  Music is a part of her core as a person, which means it is key to how Hadar relates with the world.  Through composing, performing, and teaching, Hadar is able to share some of her inner being with us.

    Throughout this episode we’ll be listening to music from the new record, and discussing the power and responsibility of creativity.

  • Eljuri – New Album “Así es el Mundo”

    Eljuri is back! This woman is a powerhouse of creativity and altruism, making music that speaks to the heart and soul as well as to the issues of the day.  Her sixth studio album is now available, Así es el Mundo.

    Eljuri’s activism comes from her deep commitment to justice. Last summer she partnered with a number of “Get out the vote” organizations with her Concerts for Democracy Tour. This year Eljuri is working with a team that has has produced the Eljuri Activism Toolkit providing tools and ideas for creative pro-active responses to the unconstitutional and illegal actions of the current presidential administration.

    For folks in the military who are being given illegal orders to occupy US cities and towns, here are resources. You do not have to obey illegal orders!
