East meets west. Our upbringing greatly influenced the individuals we are today. As Chinese Americans growing up in the suburbs of Chicago, we were raised with both western and eastern cultural values that shaped us as individuals. How have pressures in our career and with finances impacted our 30's? Both Raquel and Serida spent several years in the same institution since graduating college and transitioned into new positions in their 30's. Tune in as they discuss their careers and how they navigated different institutions and how finances played a role, if any. Do we pressure ourselves? Or, does society pressures us? We explore self-imposed and societal -pressures as they relate to our relationships with our significant others, friends and family. In the first episode of Parallel Waze, get to know us as we reflect on our younger selves and we got this idea from one of our favorite movies “13 going on 30". The main character, Jenna Rink, has it all - the successful career, a 5th Ave apartment, has the boyfriend and the glory that every girl dreams of. As she gets a glimpse of her life at 30, she learns things about herself that she does not like and ultimately proving that everything comes at a cost. We discuss what we were like at 13 and whether being in our 30's is as glam as it appears in the movies. Follow us on IG @parallelwaze
