Reverberating faith is naturally supernatural as believers are in Christ by the indwelling Holy Spirit.

The Thessalonians have questions about Jesus’ coming. About the timing of Jesus’ return and what to do as preparation. We are reminded that we don’t know the timing, but we should not be surprised. We can prepare for Jesus’ coming by living out our salvation with faith, love, and hope as children of the light.

The Thessalonians have questions about Jesus’ coming. Maybe we do too! But the answer in 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 to these questions reveal that the primary thing we need to know about the Parousia is hope. Hope for the dead in Christ, hope for those who are alive in Christ, that we together with be reunited with Christ and welcome Him to take up his rule on earth.

Jesus makes the blessings of God’s kingdom available regardless of status or standing;  followers are ushers, not bodyguards.

The Thessalonians were told in their conversion that faith in Jesus would mean their sanctification, as that is God’s calling and will for their lives. They and us are given a reminder of what sanctification means in practical terms: that we should live differently, as dwelling places of the Holy Spirit, transformed by God’s contagious holiness, and given purpose. All of this is going to produce different lives, particularly when it comes to sex.

Reverberating faith is founded on the word of God which equips us to live out our true identity in Christ.

The Thessalonian church embraced the gospel so that it “rang out” (1 Thes 1:8). What is their origin story and how did this happen? They modeled themselves after Paul and his ministry team who reminds us and them that the gospel is shared with the help of God, boldly despite opposition, and with the care and sacrificial love of God.

Reverberating faith is our response to God’s initiation, activation and replication.

In the face of constant pressure to compromise, our faith needs to be on the move, seeking God’s renewing intervention in our lives.

Giving thanks has the power to right-size our relationship with God, reframe our outlook and revitalize our hope.
