BORING MONDAYS S87 | THE FORUMS | Digital Photographer Philippines | DPP | Community Talk | Members

#TheForums #DPP #Community

Here's a throwback to the photography forum days two decades ago! We're bringing back the good 'ole days of threaded discussions and debates before the explosion of social media.

Back in the day, photography hobbyists talked and shared in online forums -- using avatars and usernames-- and had their own moderators, officers, and operators. We've invited some of the most prolific contributors among the many photography forums in the country. How did these forums shape them and the community as it is today?

We're also throwing in a surprise guest(s), who were important figures in one of the most popular forums before and we'll ask them how they navigated the changes when online discussions shifted to social media.

Join us on this session of Boring Mondays MAY 30, 2022 - at 7:30 PM (Philippines Standard Time)

BORING MONDAYS | Session 85 | FPPF | The Federation of Philippine Photographers Foundation | Manila

#FPPF #Instructors #Workshops

It's another interesting night on Boring Mondays as we have some of the prestigious instructors of The Federation of Philippine Photographers Foundation (FPPF), the organization that has worked to uplift the welfare of Pinoy photographers and the industry for over 30 years. Many successful photographers have gained from the FPPF, which has produced some of the greatest artists we have in the country.

For session #85 of Boring Mondays, we are going to talk to the people behind FPPF; the teachers who have helped dozens of aspiring photographers develop their skills, build their career, or win accolades here and abroad. What are their plans now that it looks like things are looking up again, after the pandemic?

Join me and my co-hosts on MAY 16, 2022 - 7:30PM (Philippine Standard Time) with our panel of guests : Pablo Beltran, Ador Pamintuan, Victor Sison, Joe Galian, Elwin Noche, Rey Castañeda & Jam Ramos.

SPECIAL EPISODE (EP22): LITO SY | TIMELESS | Professional Wedding Photographer | Int. WPPI | WPPP PH

#LITOSY #Wedding #Professional

----------------------

SHOW RECAP:

It took us two years to land this interview but the wait was worth it -- it's probably one of my favorites. Here are x things we've learned from premier Filipino photographer, Lito Sy:

1. He came from a big family with 10 kids, and three of them ventured into photography. At a young age, he was already business-minded and had planned on moving from Davao to Manila to expand his opportunities.

2. One of his ambitions as a young man was to become a captain of a ship, who would get to see a lot of beautiful places and beautiful women. However, he ended in photography, where he still got to travel and take photos of beautiful people.

3. What keeps him grounded is his roots and background as someone who grew up in Davao. However, he was able to make a name in metropolitan Manila, and beyond, because of his charisma and approachable personality. He's quite the comedian in person.

4. He talked about his disappointments but acknowledged that these had to happen, had to be his destiny, to get to where he is today. One of his realizations now, when he's near retirement, is he should have a properly balanced work and family/personal life.

5. He's the ultimate romantic. In this interview, a lot of his reflections on his life and career are always attached to a memory of someone he used to love. By the way, he's single and still ready to mingle!

6. He's got a lot of hobbies because he wants to enjoy whatever he can while he's still physically and mentally able to. YOLO!

7. He opened up about what really happened with that controversial debutante photoshoot in Malacañang Palace in 2017.

8. He's contented and happy where his career got him and even named the people who believe will become the next Lito Sy. Watch the video to find out who!

----------------------

From the early days of PARC HERE LIVE, we knew we wanted to have a one-on-one with a highly-acclaimed wedding photographer who has made a name both here and abroad. We're happy to announce that it's finally happening!

On MAY 14 2022, PARC HERE will roll out the red carpet for the one and only Master Wedding Photographer Lito Sy as we sit down with him to get to know the artist on a deeper level. In this business, his name is most recognized as an award-winning photographer, who is the only Asian Double Master of the WPPI - Honors of Excellence, which is a peer-led rating competition among photographers who are dedicated to their craft.

As with our previous episodes of PARC HERE LIVE, this will not be your usual photography interview. We'll strive to uncover more of the artist & the human side -- what makes him THE LITO SY?

Join me and my co-hosts Macky Alejandro & Rommel Marcelo in EPISODE 22 titled "TIMELESS" on MAY 14, 2022 SATURDAY, 8:30 PM (Philippine Standard Time)

#TheTownHall #TeamTalk #HALALAN2022

It's another Town Hall episode this week, without any specific topics to discuss, because we will be monitoring the election results. By this time, the numbers may be almost clear as to who has won or lost. We'll be laying down our cards as we talk about politics...and then some. To keep things pleasant, Bb. Pilipinas Candidate #18, Ma. Isabela David, has agreed to sit down with us and talk about anything under the sun. We're also going to have a mystery guest to spice things up.

So, join us for Session 84 on MAY 09, 2022.

BORING MONDAYS | Session 82 | BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE!!! | HENRY'S CAMERA | The Shop Series

#camerashop #henryscamera #TheShopSeries

www.henryscameraphoto.com

We're so used to watching or reading about the photographer, the artist, or the photography groups and creatives but I think it's time we put the photography business bigwigs on center stage. I don't exactly have any idea how this show will go because my purpose isn't about marketing but more like getting to know the shop owners who have provided many of us with our gears and other necessities to do well in this industry.

So, we're starting another series on Boring Mondays. "BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE!" The Shop Series but, like I said, it will not solely be about what the shops offer; it will also be about their running a business, the ups and downs, especially after COVID-19. I think it's also time to accommodate them in this show so they can have a dialogue with their patrons and for us to let them know why they make this hobby a lot more fun for us.

We've asked the owners of Henry's Cameras to sit with us. As you very well know, Henry's Camera has been around since 1980 in Quiapo, Manila. The electronic and photography equipment store offers wide-ranging brands both superior and affordable - fit for any budget. That's why they are the go-to shop for many photographers.

SPECIAL EPISODE (EP21): JO AVILA | MISTER KODAKER | Professional Photographer | Instructor | PH

#JoAvila #MrKodaker #Instructor

_________________________________

RECAP from last night's show:

Jo Avila opened up to us about his beginnings and experiences as a photographer but he also regaled us with stories about his life, his passion, and his bout with COVID in March 2020.

Here are 7 things we learned about him:

1. His father pushed him to be a lawyer since he started school. It was not what he wanted to pursue but he would sit in the photography classes at Ateneo, even if these weren't his electives.

2. One of the photography teachers noticed him and gave him his first job in a studio after he graduated. His father didn't like this, moreso when his father learned that one of Jo's duties was to sweep the floor. Jo, however, fell in love with his job on Day 1. The opportunities came when Jo would sub for the main photographer.

3. As his career flourished, with bookings left and right, Jo realized that he lost a lot of time with his family. Now, he has decided to scale back on work to pour more time with the people he loves.

4. It's his first time to talk about his brush with COVID in a video interview. In March 2020, no hospital accepted him in Metro Manila. He had to be transported to Sta. Rosa Laguna. Learn more about his fight and recovery in this episode.

5. His most prized possession? A Nintendo Switch.

6. He learned his first lesson in photography from Sesame Street: the worst photo to shoot is a cow eating grass. If you'd like to know why this is a bad photo, watch this interview.

7. He also explained the origins of his famous forum name "Mister Kodaker" and his unique email address: [email protected] --- listen to his story.

Our next featured guest on PARC Here Live is none other than Jo Avila. His name was already prominent as a teacher of photography, post processing and color management when I started photography.

I could say that he's one of those who made Photography easy to grasp. He knows many of the secrets of photo-editing and he is someone I look up to when it comes to skills and technique.

A fellow techie, gamer, and geek in terms of technology, Jo is also a product endorser and before influencers were born, he was already there, testing, using and recommending the products that he uses himself.

He's also a COVID-19 survivor during the first wave and was saved by early intervention. Following this experience, he has undergone a lifestyle change to improve his health and we shall find out how he’s incorporating these changes to his work and other activities.

Join us as we chat and get to know more about JO AVILA on "MR. KODAKER" our next session on PARC Here Live, on APRIL 20, 2022 WEDNESDAY, 8:30PM (Philippine Standard Time)

BORING MONDAYS | Session 81 | THE CLUB SERIES | On The Spotlight:  AYALA ALABANG CAMERA CLUB

#cameraclub #photographygroup #Manila

To continue with our Club Series (6th), we've asked the members of the Ayala Alabang Camera Club (AACC) to join us for Boring Mondays Session #81.

AACC was established in the late 1990s among neighbors of Ayala Alabang Village who have a shared passion for photography. Over the years, AACC has expanded as a non-profit organization where members give back to the community.

Today, the group has more than 70 active members who are residing within, around, and beyond Ayala Alabang Village. We have invited Aly Reyes, Atty. Carlo Ybanez, Rhoneil Cousart & Arch. Lian Cayco to sit down with us to discuss the group's history, formation, activities, accolades, advocacy, and future plans (vision and goals).

* The Club Series aims to shine the spotlight on groups to help photographer-hobbyists and enthusiasts discover the joys and challenges of being part of a club.
