What should you do if your child has got into serious trouble due to his bad habits? As a parent how do you respond or react to the situation when you get to know the reality? It is different to see this happening to someone else. But when it comes to your own child, it is difficult to accept the reality. You may be unaware how to deal with the problem at hand.
In such situations, do not leave the son to figure out the solutions by himself. He might be in danger. Here the parent’s compassion and heart to heart talk would help the boy open up. But as it is difficult to get a child away from gambling in a short time, you can seek assistance from parent coaches as to how you can deal with such situations. You can also take the child to a counsellor.

Habits make a man successful or unsuccessful. Famous people have good habits and daily routine. Businessmen, sports personalities, actors, authors and school, college toppers are those who are completely focused on their objective and follow daily routine uncompromisingly.
You have seen from the episode that the boy is good mannered and he hears all that his father has to tell him without really rebelling. However, the boy does not listen to his dad. So, he does not implement the changes of sleeping early and waking up early on a Sunday. Habits take time to change. It requires an external coach or counselor to help your child change their habits. It does not happen overnight as your child is accustomed to the habit since a very long time, a couple of months or even a year. It is recommended that parents be observant about any changes in their children’s habits and take required action about it at the earliest. If necessary, the parents must seek help from certified professionals. It is for a better life for your own child which is far more precious than anything else in this world.

These episodes are here to provide some awareness about habits children may become prey to unknowingly. The children may get exposed to such habits either through peers or through parents. It is true that as parents it is difficult for us to accept our faults. We don’t want to be blamed by others of being the cause for our children’s wrong habits. This episode is about the helplessness some parents go through when their child is accused of drinking habit which comes as a shock to them.
In this episode, you would have observed that the child is afraid of his classmates. He is under peer pressure to accept their terms else they get down to bullying. The father being a single parent is finding it difficult to manage his time effectively and balance work, home and also his child all at the same time. In order to balance all his responsibilities while giving time to his son would prove challenging. In such conditions, you must contact parent coaches who can provide you with solutions. The links are given below in the description.

A few children have many friends. It is no doubt good to have friends to play with during holidays or when children are in primary and middle school. It is wise to limit the number of friends when the child grows up to be a teenager and is in high school by identifying the type of friends s/he gets along with based on his/her interests, hobbies, likes, dislikes, strengths and weaknesses. However, some children do not know how to select their close friends and believe that everyone who talks to them politely is their friend. It is here, that parents can guide their children to choose right friends who would help them grow positively.
The child in this episode has n number of friends and is unable to ignore their calls as he feels it would be rude to do so. He gets calls through out the day. This renders him to the disposal of his friends. He is at the beck and call of his friends. Due to this, his studies get affected. Parents need to intervene in situations where friends become a distraction rather than companions. Parents can help their children to regulate their phone time usage effectively.

In this episode, we are talking about addictions. When children become a prey to addictions, they feel happy and good about it initially. However, when they find it difficult to find the resources to keep going with it, then it takes an ugly turn.
Identifying addictions may be easier than helping children to get out of it. You will need the help of counselors if you as parents are unable to do anything about it. There is nothing better than compassion for such children as they suffer from insecurity due to which they become prey to such addictions. With the help and support of parents, siblings, extended family and counselors can the child be relieved from such addictions.

Today we are talking about helping children understand that every action has consequence. Actions have choices. Children can choose between choices. If their choices are bad, then their consequences would be bad too. If their choices are good, their consequences would be good too. By making children accept these rules, they become more responsible and accountable for their choices they make every day.
Listen to this podcast till the end to know more about this and find your solutions.

Children normally learn manners from their parents. At times, even though the parents have taught very good manners and always behaved very well with the child and people around them, the child may sometimes behave in a not so appropriate way as customary. Here we see a parent forcing the child to talk to a relative even though he is not interested to.
In some families teenagers are treated like small children. Parents don’t outgrow their commanding tone. Once a child reaches their later adolescent years, parents must adapt themselves to grow with the child and learn to converse with them as adults. Sometimes, children these ages, are very moody and would start talking when the questions are more open ended and not close ended with the intent to understand them and not just to elicit one word answers.

In this podcast, we discuss about the few reasons why some children lose interest in studies, and what we, as parents, or caring-friends can do! There are many reasons why children lose interest in studies. . It could be due to not paying attention in class, bad company, bad habits, interest in some other stream, interest in sports, home sickness, being forced by parents to take up the course despite the child communicating disinterest etc.
Parents want to accomplish their unfulfilled desires through their children. For instance, if parents had an interest to go out of the country as in the above case, they enforce their desires on their children. Children’s strengths or talents are side-lined. Little do parents realize that they are being unfair to their children. At times, these may have an adverse effect leading to complications. It is in the interest of the children that parents should be more sensitive and empathetic to their needs and interests.
Thus, we must pay attention to and encourage our kids keeping in mind their interests and hobbies.
