Matthew Layton and Sam Rickard present Studio 1 - Vision Australia Radio’s weekly look at life from a low vision and blind point of view.
This week:
Parenting:
Matthew talks to Carolyn Johnson about their shared experience of growing up with very similar vision impairments - they were both born with congenital cataracts.
Then they discuss their shared experience of being told that their newborn children had the same condition, of the resultant guilt and of the slow passage of time while their nine week old babies were having operations on their eyes under general anaesthetic.
Carolyn beams with pride as she tells us that her son Mitchell (26) is now a paramedic, and drives ambulances and saves lives for a living.

If you’ve been affected by any of the issues in this week’s show - or if there’s something you feel we need to talk about on future shows, please do get in touch.
