TEENAGERS - are perhaps the most difficult people to communicate with; and the reason is because they see things differently than we do. 

They have the body of adults, but the minds of children. It's a confusing stage of life and as parents, we must patiently help them wade through this stage of life without hurting their self-esteem even further. We must help work through them through their self-doubt and patiently help them navigate to self-confidence.
