Adulthood is mostly adapting to the constant change and evolution that life brings. When we move out, get married, have kids, etc. our lives of course are completelyyyyy different! Our parents' lives also change with us becoming adults and creating our own lives and families.
I thought discussing these changes and the needs for boundaries and also GRACE with yourself and your family members was important as it seems like a lot of people our age have similar experiences.
This episode is inspired by several conversations I've had with other young adults in the last few months. I noticed every person I spoke to was uncomfortable talking about when their loved ones may have crossed a boundary with them. I heard a lot of "I love my family buuuuut....." and then they would proceed to say whatever line was crossed.
Here's the thing: more often than not, our families come from a good place! However, we do have to set firm boundaries with them. As we grow up, get married, and have kids, our priorities shift. We have a new immediate family. Sometimes, our parents and in-laws can feel lost in that shuffle and we all feel weird addressing it with each other.
This epsiode is to highlight that while it is uncomfortable, we can come to the conversation with grace. But we cannot avoid these conversations!
