This year PFC is participating in a regional program called, “A Step Closer.” In this program we have been partnered with Footprint Church, a primarily Spanish speaking congregation in Phoenixille. Throughout 2026 Footprint and PFC have been partnering together in prayer, leadership relationships, and in worshiping together in various ways. We are so excited to have Pastor Oscar with us at PFC to bring the message today.
When do our desires become ultimate desires (idols)? Today we are having an honest conversation about the idol of lust. This idol often hides in plain sight-in our scrolling, our daydreams, and our habits-training us to treat people as products to be consumed rather than image-bearers to be honored. We will look at Paul’s words to the Corinthians and discover how seeing others as God’s image-bearers changes everything. Whether you are single or married, navigating the digital age, or seeking freedom from hidden habits, this is a safe space to learn how God’s grace re-images our hearts.
This week, we are exposing how fear drives us into hidden spiritual traps: grabbing the steering wheel in a Spirit of Control or retreating into the backseat through the Spirit of Passivity. Grounded in Proverbs 3, we’ll explore how abiding in the Holy Spirit frees us from both frantic self-reliance and passive disobedience.
Pride is the father of all idols. But not all pride is bad. God takes pride in His creation, and we can experience Godly pride when that feeling manifests as joyful confidence in the Lord. But a twisted pride is at the very foundation of the fall of Satan and the sinfulness of humanity. This twisted type of pride manifests as selfish ambition. When we give ourselves over to selfish amnbition we enter a cycle where four things happen: (1) Fear and insecurity result in worship of an idol. (2) This idol promises us results if we give our hearts to its power. (3) Worship of the idol inevitably results in worship of one’s self - we become an idol. (4) The idol gains control and we become servants of a different god. Praise God, Jesus offers a better way!
What happens when sin goes viral and becomes the cultural norm? We’re usually pretty good at spoting our own personal shortcomings, but what about the sins that are so baked into our culture that we don’t even see them any longer? This Sunday, we are continuing our Idolzzz to Image series by looking at Isaiah 53. We’ll explore how to identify our societal blind spots, and more importantly, how Jesus carried the weight of the iniquity we couldn’t even see.
As we begin our new series, “Idolzzz to Image” we need to start by talking about sin. Feeling uncomortable yet? Talking about sin is hard, because in order to do so with integrity, we need to do honest self-examination. Thankfully, the Scriptures give us a model of how to deal with the nature of sin, and our complicity as sinners, in a Christ-centered manner that actually leads us to freedom. So come be set free by examining the thing you’d rather avoid.
We're wrapping up our Practices series with Worship! We’ll talk through some ‘challenges’ concerning worship and gain a deeper understanding of why we sing together on Sunday mornings.
Today we’ll explore the spiritual practice (and gift!) of Rest. God has woven Rest into the fabric of creation and humanity! Genesis 1 and 2 should act as our framework for practicing the Rest that God originally designed. But our Rest also exists in the shadow of Genesis 3. How is the Lord inviting us to redeem Rest in our own lives and context? We should look to two places - creation and the cross!
Living simply means clearing out the debris in our lives - the packed schedules, the material stress, and the need to prove ourselves. When we drop those heavy burdens, we open up space for God’s love to flow freely through us so we can love, give, and serve without getting burned out.
To the follower of Jesus, all of life is confession. Every prayer, every act of worship, every meal, every conversation, every acknowledgement of sin, every admission of failing, every reconciliation, every declaration of the glory of God… it’s all confession. We are a confessional people. This week we explore the gift that confession is meant to be.
