If you have Parkinson's, exercise is not an option. Exercise is currently the only known therapy available to everyone that is known to slow the progression. But, an exercise program has to be a bit fluid, changing with the flow of Parkinson's. Sometimes this means your exercise targets, or goal posts, move daily, sometimes yearly, but they always move.

In this short podcast, Jeff looks at the moving goal posts of exercise and why it's important to recognize and manage these moving targets.

As the team prepares for the 7th international trek for people with Parkinson's, led by nurse practitioner Sherrie Gould, we completed a 4-day training weekend in the western Sierra Mountains consisting of back to back five to 10 mile hikes at elevation. 

The group arrives in Bali June 9th for an 8-day trek though this amazing Indonesian island.

These treks are "because we can!" The power of watching people with Parkinson's, some of whom have never done anything like this before, is amazing. Each person is getting stronger, fitter, more durable, and more confident as they move past their own limits.

BALI...the seventh international trek for people with Parkinson's led by nurse practitioner Sherrie Gould. Today is our traditional first training day hike around Lake Poway. This is a short, 3-mile walk on bumpy and rocky terrain and is the first of dozens of training hikes as the team prepares for eight days of 10-mile hikes in June with lots of elevation changes, challenging terrain, and the warm, humid air of Indonesia.

Part of the changes afoot at the Parkinson's Association of San Diego is the joining of Community Liaison Steve Steinberg. This is a new position at PASD. Steve, a licensed clinical social worker, will be picking up the phone and responding to emails, handing all our referral and information conversations.

Steve has been leading the young onset support groups and will continue at that but, he is your point of contact when you need anything from PASD.

In this short podcast we learn a bit about Steve and his drive to help everyone impacted by Parkinson's lead a better life.
