In one of the most perplexing stories in Chumash, Moshe Rabbeinu is told by Hashem to speak to the rock in order to bring forth water so that Klal Yisrael could have what to drink. Rather than following Hashem's intrsuctions, Moshe Rabbeinu hits the rock and loses the opportunity to lead Klal Yisrael into Eretz Yisrael.
