In First John 3:10, the Apostle reminds us that there are two families to which everyone belongs: the family of God or the family of Satan. Through sin, we all begin in one family but upon coming to faith, the new Christian is rescued and adopted into the other. Entrance into this new family results in several blessings, including a new Father, a new identity, a new life, and a new inheritance. As we look to Romans 8:14-17, the Apostle Paul highlights the role of the Spirit in this process of spiritual adoption and highlights four aspects of the believer's ongoing sonship.
