Ari Gross is a writer who is a fan of Star Trek. He’s such a fan of Star Trek that when he finally created his first complete comic book story, he set it in a universe very much like the one that Gene Roddenberry created decades ago. In Awakening (which is crowdsourcing on Kickstarter now), a crewmember on a futuristic starship begins to experience a break in how he observes reality. The protagonist of this Trek-like tale begins to realize that he may only be a character in a piece of fiction. It’s a revelation that tests his sanity and shocks him to his core…and has severe implications on his own existence as well as that of his fellow crew mates.
