Civil society organizations (CSOs) play an important role in keeping the focus on those who will be most impacted by educational plans and policies, particularly girls, those living in remote areas and other vulnerable groups. They also actively contribute to the policy and planning cycle through advocacy, participation in local education groups and the review of sector and related action plans.
In this episode Alfreda Foboi-Nmah, from the CSO Helping Our People Excel in Liberia, and Ram Gaire from the National Campaign for Education Nepal – a network of nearly 500 organizations – talk about why CSO participation is critical, and how their place in planning can be safeguarded. Muriel Poisson, Team leader for Knowledge Generation and Mobilization at IIEP-UNESCO also shares insights on the value of planning with CSOs.
