Partick Free Church of Scotland (Cont)

All the preaching conducted at a blustery Partick Station, Glasgow, today. There may not seem to be many people about, but there was a lot passing by going into the supermarket behind the preacher, the subway, railway, and bus stations, plus there are lots of people who can hear in the flats.

The Hebrew Christians were not able to receive the doctrine concerning the Lord Jesus Christ's role as a High Priest being comparable with the priesthood of Melchisedec because they had become dull of hearing.

Jeremiah's principal message to Jerusalem and Judea was that the Lord would no longer tolerate their sins. He was going to send judgement from the north which would destroy Jerusalem and their temple and take the people into captivity. But before he delivered that message he was reminded about the love of God.

The godly King Hezekiah cleanses the temple and reinstates the worship of God in Jerusalem and then issues an invitation to the men of Israel to come to the capital and celebrate the Passover.

The Apostle Paul goes on to outline the uniqueness and superiority of the priesthood of the Lord Jesus Christ compared to the Old Testament Aaronic High Priesthood.

Young Jeremiah was called to the prophetic office when society in Jerusalem and Judah was very sinful. Therefore he was reluctant to accept the demanding task, but God promised to be with him.
