Back with another LLDD: Listen, Learn, Do, or Die. These bonus episodes are part of our goal to help prepare our listeners as much as possible for a disaster. It's summer in our area, and unfortunately, there are fires by us both. Join Brett, Breana, and Special Guest Caleb for some fire safety tips of what to do before, during, and after fires! Caleb, who just so happens to be Breana's husband, is a volunteer firefighter. He gives some of his own tips and knowledge of things to keep in mind. Brett makes sure to cover Wildfires, an unfortunate constant in our lives. At no surprise to anyone, Breana also talks about the benefits of insurance. Come join us for an hour discussion on fire safety.

We have come back to our semi-regular podcasting schedule. We have missed each other and definitely missed y'all! After a few minutes of chit chat and forgetting to give our podcast name...oops? Also, this time it's not just Bre who is not sure she is saying things correctly. We get down to business. Brett goes back to 1871 for an enormous fire that jumped over a river! The Peshtigo fire was buried in history because it was the same day of the Chicago Fire. How some people survived was genius!

It's been said again and again - history repeats itself. In 1918 there was a pandemic that took over the globe. This episode Brett and Breana share the subject of the 1918 Pandemic. We go over how it affected the world, how it spread so much, what we learned from it, how some scientists with garden tools are badass, and sometimes fire extinguishers aren't enough to preserve specimens. Come listen to our sweet sweet voices and cackles take you back into time.

Gasp! Wow! Whoa! Erg! UHH! We will not leave you today without some great reactions and sound effects. Breana starts first this time to tell you about the Sultana sinking in 1865. The circumstances that lead to many deaths will make you angry as well. But who gets the blame...well, we will tell you.
We didn't get to talk about this since we recorded almost 3 weeks ago - and a lot has changed since then, so:

Every time we discuss our disasters, we seem to find some kind of link. This time it seems to be something about governmental involvement post disasters.

Holy Forking Shirt Balls! Somehow, Breana actually guesses what Brett is going to cover...well, sort of. Have you heard of the city of Centralia? Welp, here you go! There is an ongoing fire UNDER the city. This may be Bre's favorite disaster that Brett has covered since it seems so unreal. Then we get a rundown of the 1993 Great Midwest Flood. Finally, Breana touches on a natural disaster. Okay, mostly natural. Wait until you hear about what James Scott decides to do so he can party hardy! Let's just pretend that at some point Breana doesn't say Jack, and continues to say James.

Your favorite disaster babes are at it again. Holy Flamin' Balls there is a lot of heat and more ice in this episode. Breana starts with the 2017 Eagle Creek Fire that she remembers since it was close to her. When you mix teens, fireworks, and a forest, you get multiple people stranded in a burning forest overnight, and many still closed off trails. Brett thought she was gonna review the Great Flood of 1862...but, oops, that was done. So she hits us with another 1800 gnarly time. Apparently, if a huge volcano goes off it can create winter in the summertime around the world. Check out the second half of this episode to hear about this volcano and how it took the heat away from much of the world. you'll be shocked to hear it.

And we back, and we back. Hello, our podcast listenin' friends. The Babes of Disasters want to tell you some tales of destruction. Brett takes us back to November in 1940 that took the city over on Armistice day. Of course, there are some degrees of separation that Brett keeps from us for a good few minutes, but don't worry. She does let us know. After that Bre wants to talk about some gas-filled contraption that took people over the Atlantic ocean. Like many, you too have heard of Hindenburg, but do you really KNOW about it? Well, you get to hear about it now.
