In the Academy's 59 year history, why have only 9 black musicians taken home the Grammys most prestigious honor? Should top musicians boycott the show? What can the Grammys do better? In this episode--our own recap of Sunday's show--we discuss all of this and more, resulting in one of our longest recordings to date. We also touch on the performances, including Adele's mishaps, Bruno's tribute to Prince (and continued appropriation of black culture), Tribe's revolutionary appearance, and Beyoncé's high art production that left us all on edge.

Our 10th full episode of your favorite podcast is all about the ladies. We begin discussing those who've been examples for all of us (women and men), expertly dominating all art forms and charting new territories...for the culture. Likewise, we discuss, as a cautionary tale, those women who are doing the exact opposite, and who, because of their foolishness, have become excommunicates.

It's been a long time coming, but PMTA is back! On this ride, we picked up where we left off, discussing the year in music, its similarity to another golden era, 1996 (which just so happens to be a 20 year difference), and whether or not the Grammys got it right. With that in mind, we also discuss the importance of self affirmation as a historically overlooked community, and the value of good art over momentary appreciation. Eventually, greatness is recognized, and like our long awaited return, it's better late than never. Intro Credit: Welcome Back - Mase. Outro Credit: All We Got - Chance The Rapper ft. Kanye West & Chicago Children's Choir.

On this trip, we hand out a few L's to some of our faves, scratch the surface into the discussion of influence of our generation's most notable hip-hop and R&B producers, as well as tell y'all who we got that fire beat for !

In this episode, we attempt to piece together the current tensions and beefs currently happening in hip hop, while trying to find the lyrical limits of a diss. We also praise and highlight the rise of true hip hop representation presently on television, as well as shade the appropriation of black music in popular culture.

On Ride 6, we recapped Solange's groundbreaking, number one album, "A Seat at the Table," highlighting how much it echoes the sentiments of Ride 5 and our hope that she receives all of the accolades she deserves at this year's Grammys. Then, we get into the return of New York rap in popular music, after the South's long reign atop the genre, and how artists from A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie to Young M.A are bringing back the crown to the birth place of this thing we call hip-hop. Welcome back! #NuNewYork
