We learn from Paul’s letter to Galatia that we were created to be formed fully into the image of Jesus, but many feel stuck in their spiritual growth. Using a map of spiritual growth, we can begin to envision what God has next for our lives.

Reality isn’t what most of us expected it to be. As each year goes by, our anxiety and despair drive us to long for the coming of Christ and the end of the world. But are we putting our hope in the right place? Are we being lulled and intoxicated like the rest of the world?

The North star for our generation is to keep showing that we’re growing! This embedded growth obligation has led us to assume that grief cannot coexist with belief. But what do we do when grief knocks on our door? What happens when a plague halts all our progress? We can grieve without hope through the practice of ignorance and illusion or we can grieve with hope by embracing the death and resurrection of Jesus.

Why are we in such outrage and how do we get out of it? The Apostle Paul gives us a way forward.

Our generation has a fragmented view of the flesh and freedom. As a result, unbelievers see the commands of God as oppressive and repressive. Conversely, many believers see these commands as desirable yet impossible.
We are not without hope. Through the blood of Christ and the discipline of the body, we can experience true freedom apart from the flesh.
