Jesus was brought before Pontius Pilate, the Roman procurator or governor of Israel. Pilate interrogated Jesus and listened to the accusations of the religious leaders while Jesus remained silent. at the end of the interrogation, Pilate asked Jesus, "Art thou the King of the Jews?" and Jesus responded, "Thou sayest it" (Luke 23:3) and here is the rest of the story
