Memorizing past participles is a long journey.

* Good news: past participles don’t change with the conjugation.

* Other good news: past participles are used in many French tenses, not just the passé composé.

* Slight damper: past participles past participles are all over the place, there is no logic to how they are organized, and they have to be memorized.

Let’s start with only 12 verbs

* accueillir …. accueilli …. to welcome …. avoir

* aimer …. aimé …. to like, to love …. avoir

* apprendre …. appris …. to learn …. avoir

* avoir …. eu …. to have …. avoir

* être …. été …. to be …. avoir
