This may not be a party you wanted to attend, but when it comes to praying our prodigals back home, no one else is going to pray for them like we do. We have to show up so God can show out. Because He answers prayers. When we can’t see how it’s ever going to turn around for good...God sees.

When we feel like there's nothing left that we can do, we can still pray like never before. And, we can even find joy in the process. We've been given authority to pray over our children and know this: the Devil is a defeated foe.

I have this beautiful quote in my office; my mom gave it to me. She said, "I don't need this as a reminder anymore because now it's true. It's yours now." This was just a few years after my brother died in an accident. He was a prodigal gone Home. My mom's one of the strongest women I know. She didn't know then how much I'd need this today.

Why 'prodigals?' Because they have known Him at some point. You can't be a prodigal if you've never known Your Father. This is truth. He is Truth.

And, because I know this to be true, I'm grabbing on with both hands to this Scripture:

I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth. 3 John 4 (NIV)

How do I know how to pray? Because, I, too, am a prodigal come home...
