In a world that constantly competes for our attention and shapes the way we think, desire, and live, it’s easy to be formed without even realizing it. Scripture reminds us that we are always being shaped by something—either by the patterns of the world or by the way of Jesus. This message invites us to pause, reflect, and realign our lives around Christ by asking honest questions about who or what is shaping us, who God is calling us to become, and how we will intentionally follow Him into that life. As we step into a new year, this is an invitation to reset—not our schedules or devices, but our discipleship—choosing once again to be formed by the ways and words of Jesus.

We talk about the story of Jesus all the time, but we don’t always stop to think about Joseph. Think about what he went through—finding out Mary was pregnant, wrestling with what to do, and then having angels speak to him. Scripture shows us a man under real pressure, facing a lot of uncertainty. Joseph didn’t have all the answers, but he trusted God anyway. And because of that, he saw and was a part of the story of Jesus, the Savior of the world. God always has the a better plan than we could ever have on our own; what is on the other side of our obedience?

This weekend we continue our Family of God series with our final message entitled “The Family That Welcomes the Stranger.” Throughout Scripture, God reveals His heart for the foreigner, the outsider, and the displaced, calling His people to love, protect, and welcome those who are far from home. As a church family, we want to better understand what it means to live out this calling in our own community. Today’s message will take the form of a conversation as we hear the story and perspective of Medard Ngueita, Executive Director of World Relief Western Washington, whose own journey powerfully reflects God’s work of turning strangers into family. Together, we will explore how the Gospel shapes our compassion and invites us to reflect the heart of Jesus to all.

Today we continue our Family of God series with a special message called “Reaching the Next Generation”. As a church, we believe every generation matters and that passing on our faith is one of our greatest biblical responsibilities. Rather than hearing from one pastor, you’ll hear from our Children’s Pastor, Youth Pastor, and Young Adults Pastor as they share how God is moving in the lives of children, students, and young adults—and how we, as a spiritual family, can intentionally raise them in the faith. Together, we want to seek God’s heart for the next generation and take ownership of the call to disciple those who are coming behind us.
Speaker: Pastors Ben Dixon, Ronalee Burley, Iziah Dawn, and Jared Hunt Scripture: Psalm 78:1-4

This weekend in our Family of God series, we are taking time to honor the older generation in our church—those who have walked with Jesus faithfully and carry wisdom that strengthens the entire body. Rather than a traditional sermon, Pastor Ben will interview two trusted leaders from our NWC family, inviting them to share not only from their experience but also to help guide us in how to better honor, value, and learn from the older saints in our church and broader community. Scripture calls us to stand in the presence of the aged and to seek wisdom from those who have gone before us, and today we posture our hearts to listen, learn, and celebrate the gift they continue to be in God’s family.

In this episode, we unpack Pastor Ben’s message A Biblical Framework for Parenting. Long before modern challenges emerged, God designed parenting as a sacred calling—one that forms hearts, models faith, and raises a generation ready to follow Jesus with confidence and conviction. We explore six foundational words from Scripture—SHOW, TEACH, LOVE, GUARD, DISCIPLINE, and PREPARE—and talk through what each one looks like in everyday family life.
Along the way, we answer questions, share practical guidance, and offer real-life insight into how parents can build homes rooted in truth, strengthened by love, and guided by God’s purpose.

Culture and experience shape us in ways we don’t always recognize. They influence how we define manhood and womanhood, often distorting God’s original design. This week, we’ll see how Jesus came to restore what sin has broken and learn what it means to walk as a woman after God’s own heart.

Parenting is more than a responsibility—it’s a sacred calling. God entrusts parents to shape hearts, model faith, and prepare the next generation to follow Jesus. Scripture gives us a clear framework for how to do this well, which is captured in today’s message through six words: SHOW, TEACH, LOVE, GUARD, DISCIPLINE, and PREPARE. When we follow biblical principles in our parenting, we help our children build lives rooted in truth, strengthened by love, and guided by purpose.
