Pastor Brian Podcast

It is our second Pastor Brian Podcast! Even better, it is Holy Tuesday!!! Come join us for 10 minutes as we sing and read scripture as well as pray for the world and each other! Our Podcast includes a: Intro (00:00), Opening Prayer (00:34), Psalm (01:57), Scripture (04:06), Prayer (06:46), Blessing (09:32), End (10:04). You may find the full daily scripture reading (Isaiah 49:1-7; Psalm 71:1-14; 1 Corinthians 1:18-31; John 12:20-36) at https://lectionary.library.vanderbilt.edu/texts.php?id=32. Have a blessed day!

We have a special announcement and call concerning music on the podcast! All the small song refrains which we sing during the Psalm are either written by me (like today’s) or are in the public domain for copyright reasons (I don't have a line-item in our family budget to broadcast songs- we didn't plan for such things! :) ). However, everyone will not want to sing songs only written by me. This is where you come in! If you have a simple refrain that you think would be great to use with a Psalm, is easy to sing, and you would give permission for us to use . . .  send a recording of it to our email [email protected]. The scriptures we will use in the future for the Pastor Brian Podcast can be found in the Daily Revised Common Lectionary online (https://lectionary.library.vanderbilt.edu/daily.php?year=A). Look ahead and if you find a Psalm that inspires you, write a small chorus and send it to us!  Of if you simply have a short chorus, refrain, or chant you would want us to use but aren’t sure what it will go with . . .  go ahead and send it and we will find a Psalm with which to pair it! Thank you so much!!!

Welcome to the first Pastor Brian Podcast! However, more importantly, it is Holy Monday! Come join us for 10 minutes as we sing and read scripture as well as pray for the world and each other! Our Podcast includes a: Intro (00:00), Opening Prayer (00:34), Psalm- Psalm 36:5-11 (01:55), Scripture- John 12:1-11 (04:37), Prayer (06:52), Blessing (09:07), End (09:54). You may find the full daily scripture reading (Isaiah 42:1-9; Psalm 36:5-11; Hebrews 9:11-15; John 12:1-11) at https://lectionary.library.vanderbilt.edu/texts.php?id=31. Thank you for listening to our inaugural podcast!

Hi! My name is Brian and I am the host of the Pastor Brian Podcast. During Season 1 of the Pastor Brian Podcast we will be learning about prayer. And we are going to learn by participating in prayer together . . . especially in this time of the global COVID-19 pandemic.

You can use this podcast to pray as a family with a speaker in the middle of your table, in your car stereo during your lunch break, or with ear pods before you go to bed at night. But if you are like me, and prayer has always been a weak point for me, you pray best when you do it with a community.

During this first season, a new podcast will be available Monday through Friday. Each episode will be 10 – 15 minutes and include a scripture reading, reading of a Psalm with a small section to sing (which I will teach you), and a led prayer called a Litany. Sometimes we may have a devotion as well. Feel free to pause the podcast at any time for your needs and then pick right back up! Occasionally we will have some guests like my wife, Dr. Beth Felker Jones, our children, our dogs, or other friends and colleagues. Hit the Subscribe button now and a new episode will show up automatically. Thanks . . . and I look forward to praying with you!
