Jesus does not command as to be "salt and light." He told us we are already "salt and light." The question is, what kind of influence do we have in this world? Why is it that the influence of many Christians are not felt in our society?

If the second greatest commandment is just, "Love your neighbor," we will be slightly comfortable with that. We can come up with our own definitions of "love" or "neighbor." However, the second greatest commandment is "Love your neighbor as yourself." Just adding the words "as yourself" makes it radical and repulsive for self-centered men and women.

We Christians are not just "servants" of Christ, although that is true. We are "slaves" of Christ. A servant is committed to serve Christ. A slave belongs to Christ. He is totally surrendered to the will and the word of his Master.
