Matthew 18:1-9-Before talking of forgiveness,Jesus tells us how we ought to deal with our own sin. This is equally as important as dealing with another's sin against us.-The disciples again were arguing, this time it was about who was greatest among them.-Jesus called a little child and set him the midst of them and he said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.-Jesus calls those who believe in Him,' little ones'. It's a title of humility,a little one doesn't even have a title!-Woe is unto anyone who causes any of these little ones to sin.-That is why Jesus goes on to express just how hard we ought to be with our own sin- cut it off. He says anything that causes you to sin-cut it off you!-In the book of Revelation Jesus was talking of a man who was sinning sexually, and Jesus said He would strike him with a terrible sickness!*It was better that the person would suffer in the body so that he'd change his mind and repent and be saved.-Jesus wants you to apply the same eagerness in dealing with your own sins! You need to cut away from that sin because it is dangerous for you.
☆But if we evaluated and judged ourselves honestly [recognizing our shortcomings and correcting our behavior], we would not be judged. But when we [fall short and] are judged by the Lord, we are disciplined [by undergoing His correction] so that we will not be condemned [to eternal punishment] along with the world.~1 Corinthians 11:31-32 AMP
