The understanding of Christ dwelling in our heart is illustrated beautifully by Paul in Col 2.

Col 2:1-3

For I want you to know how great a struggle I have on your behalf, and for those who are at Laodicea, and for all those who have not personally seen my face, 2 that their hearts may be encouraged, having been knit together in love [the great defense against false teaching], and attaining to all the wealth [ploutos] that comes from the full assurance of understanding, resulting in a true knowledge of God's mystery, that is, Christ Himself, 3 in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge [in 3:3, your life is hidden with Christ in God].

The same noun is used by Paul when referring to the confidence he had in the gospel, which gave him the freedom to speak it...

God the Holy Spirit indwells the believer in order to strengthen him with power to learn and live the life of Christ so that the understanding of Christ will dwell in his heart.

That is Paul's prayer in Eph 3:16-17.

Christ submitted completely to the will of the Father in everything. He became obedient, to the point of death, even death on a cross.

He didn't have a need that wasn't met by His Father.

Life came to Him as the Father willed and Jesus had no interest in altering it.

Eph 3:14-19: The indwelling of the Holy Spirit and Christ.

Gal 2:20
